Has anyone ever blacked out a white foot EG sock to compete? If so, what did you use?Am considering doing this as my horse has one white foot and one black in front and it makes him look slightly unlevel. All help/ideas appreciated, thanks!

I have never blacked out an area as large as a sock, but I once competed a horse who was jet black that had been bitten across his neck just in front of the withers and white hairs had grown once the wound healed. I used a permanent black marker pen!

Could keep you quite busy for a whole sock!

If its actually a whole sock, it would be against the rules for showing, and the horse would no longer match its ID papers for any flu vac or ID check.

i've never blacked out an entire sock...as i quite like my boys one sock!

But a previous horse of mine managed to skin his front leg, and when it healed the front of his leg grew back white hair from knee to feltock...the rest was black! as i did working hunter with him i blacked it out with permanent hair dye....applied the hair dye to the area to black the lot out, and then as the grey hair grows through just use root toch up to keep it covered. in the winter i'd let the white grow back through.

If you do this use a test past first...a friend of mine tried to cover a white scar on their horses withers and rather than covering it - the hair all fell out!
