Hi. Non horsey dad here. First time owning a pony for my daughter and not 100%... so would appreciate some more advice before calling vets out.
She has some white bits coming off her teats. The previous yard we were at was a mixed herd and one of the shetlands was very "boisterous" and wouldn't leave our mare alone, I've noticed her attitude has also changed since he and some others shetlands joined the herd. Someone mentioned the possibility of a "rig"? I'm hoping she's definitely NOT pregnant... Some advice from experienced horsey people would be great! Tia

It doesn’t look like colostrum nor does it look like the udder is filling. How long have you had her and how long has it been since she was in with the Shetland?

Hi, thank you. We've had her since November, she's a 6yr old, 12'2 section b and we moved yard end of June, they were out together for probably about 2months, prior to that the other geldings were absolutely fine and didn't bother her.

She's only been turned out with one mare since we moved yard.
She's now hard to catch, very twitchy when touching her belly and recently started flicking her tail loads... Not sure if that's just normal behaviour as young still and especially being summer with flys around.

In that case there is absolutely no way she would be displaying any pregnancy symptoms yet. I’d be more concerned about the twitchy behaviour and begin doing the checks like saddle, teeth, physio and vet if none of them have any input.

Thanks. We've recently had physio, teeth and saddle checked.. The saddle did need the gullet bar (think that's what it's called) reducing as she's lost weight and gained muscle so that could possibly be something to do with the twitching? She was overweight when we brought her and have been told she's in very good shape now.
But still concerned on what the white bits are on the teats 😕 is there a chance of an sti or something?

Some mares just have a bit of discharge, it can come from hormonal fluctuations or other issues (cushings for example) but I honestly wouldn’t be too worried. Clean it off an if it keeps appearing consult a vet.
