Hi, my 17 year old cob x gelding has developed white spots in his sheath. One is more like a white mole whereas the other 3 are like spots. The next vet yard visit is in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone knew what they were. Thanks. I have photos but don’t know how to attach them

Without a picture it is card to say could be marks left from fly bites or could be small sarcoids or a build up of smegma. I would give your vet a call as it is better a day to early than a day to late,

you say in his sheath? I just want to check it is that rather than on.

With regards to photos upload them to hosting site, facebook, tinypic, imgur etc ... not photobucket! copy the image address, paste it here and add
to either end without spaces and it will show up.

On sorry not in, hopefully you can now see the photos

If he were younger I'd say they were milk warts. I guess they still could be, I'm just not aware of them getting them so late in life

ps well done on the pics, it usually takes people a few goes!

Thanks, I’m not aware of older horses getting milk warts but it could be a possibility. Just wondering if anyone has seen something similar on their horses

I had one with identical marks. Not much help as I only had him a year and never found out what they were, they stayed the same though while I had him.

One of mine gets these from fly bites, at least that's what I've always put them down to. They don't change and seem to be a small scar.

Hopefully they are nothing to worry about, it definitely get them checked out. They look like little warts.

I had a gelding diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma a few years back, his didn't look like that, but they appeared quite suddenly. Any unusual looking things on sheaths now and I get the vet straight out.

They do look a bit like juvenile warts. My gelding managed to catch them off my yearling, aged 14. So it is possible, just not that likely.

Send the pic to your vet?

Tatts gets spots that look like this they are filled with pus I think they old infected fly bites I get rid of them by a mixture of loading a cloth wrung out it hot water and hibiscrub and squeezing them .
