Hi
Theres so many products people use to whiten horses tails, but which is the most effective?I hate the yellow stains on the skirt of his tail and I really want to get rid of it but I don't know what to use.Is Orvus good,I'm thinking about buying that but I want to make sure it's good first because there's alot in it and if it doesn't work it will just be thrown there.Does anyone use any other products?:)

Fairy liquid platinum for me! nice and cheap, leave it on for 5 mins before rinsing off and my boys tail comes up lovely and white.

diamond white by wahl, shampoo, soak, rinse, repeat. if you need extra zing for particularly awful stains... add some extra purple spray to the shampoo making sure you lather until it becomes white. another great tip is when the rain is coming, dip the end (not the dock) of the tail into soapy water, lather and turn out for rinse, it stays in longer, the rain will wash the suds away and the tail will be stunning :D

'Blue Snow' shampoo by Veredus is honestly the best product on the market for whites or greys. You have to dilute it or else you will end up with a blue horse lol, but honestly worth every single penny.

How many times, People? I have discovered the secret formula...

Soft soap followed by a blue rinse... Works better than anything ever.

Follow with chalk if showing!

for humans you can buy purple shampoo to cancel out the yellow tones in blonde hair! I'd give that a go!

its scary when you tip it out and its bright purple but on the colour chart yellow and purple are opposite each other so purple will cancel out yellow tones!

you can buy it in sallys or even on ebay I expect!

Oh dear! Never use net curtain whitener!!! The results are funny/not funny depending on circumstance!

My experience of net curtain whitener: My mother thought she would be helpful and bath my white shetland for the Royal Highland Show whilst I was at school. Just before midday I get called out of class by the secretary telling me that my mother had just rang and I had an emergency dentist appointment to go to at 12.15pm so had to leave. Get out of school to find my mother sitting looking rather sheepish in the car.

"I've turned your pony purple and you need to sort it out!"

4 scrubbings later and the pony was indeed gleamingly gleamingly white! But look at him on a diagonal in the sunlight and he had a purple tinge ...

On the plus side we did win our class, mother never went near my precious white pony at bath time again and I have steered well clear of net curtain whitener!

hHAHAHAHAHAHAH that's so funny! I bet you were like "dentist? I don't have a tooth ache" haha love love love

Fairy washing up liquid and the net curtain whitener - but only half a sachet for a whole thick hunter tail .... else you do get the purple tinge.
Know of a top shower near me who uses bleach ... fab results!!

Half a pack of whitener would be ideal! Infortunately my mother used 2 packets in one bucket of water and scrubbed said shetland all over with that one bucket ...
