Who are best looking in the equestrian world?

After a good little debate in the competition forum about why equine sports are not being promoted enough, we came upon the topic of asking who would be the faces of equestrianism in the UK.

Now, look at other sports. You will notice that the ones that are on the billboards and given endorsements by Nike, etc often tend to be rather pretty (read that as meaning men who look smokingly hot even in speedos...A virtual no no for any mortal man). Equine sports need the same. Promotion and mass appeal... in other words beautiful ladies and handsome men. Shallow but true.

So my question to you is who are the real good looking riders and equestrian personalities? Who would you happily tune into watch to catch a glimpse of? Who would you like to see as the face of equestrianism?

As long as they are in the sport they can be included. No matter which discipline, whether it is horse racing to Vaulting. Regardless of nationality. If you think they are a good face to promote put them forward and show us pictures.

Discussion welcomed and encouraged.

Isn't that what we have Zara Phillips and Ellen Whittaker for?

Both of them come from advantaged backgrounds. Zara, with her being a royal, perpetuates the image that equestrianism is only for snobs (which we do not want or I hope we don't) and Ellen had the entire Whitaker dynasty to assist her. Whilst they are both pretty, though I think there are much more attractive riders out there, I wouldn't really want them to be who we were promoting as the face of equestrianism in my own opinion. Many differenting opinions, many different reasons.

I personally always liked the look of Andrew Nicholson but, alas, I know I am in the minority and that he is not everyones cup of tea and thought of as too old for some.:p But he is a fantastic rider and not completely horrid on the eyes. We all have our own tastes. :p

Tell me what yours are?

I don't particularly care for EW or ZP however, I am pretty sure that they both do a good job of promoting equestrianism to non horsey bods. Although Zara is a royal she happens to be the child of a well liked princess who was, of course, a great horsewoman her self.

It doesn't matter what we think, we are into equestrian sport already. I know plenty of boys who are into both these ladies despite not being horsey.

And really, Wayne Rooney is attractive?

Who said that? I think he looks like Shrek, but whatever rocks your boat. Proof that not everyone's choice will be agreeable to everyone.

But I'll join Huggybear in the "minority", Andrew Nicholson is nice looking, but I find men improve with age :D

I quite agree, like a fine wine. *clinks glasses with Chessy*

Me! Everyone likes a well formed potato, that is why Wayne Rooney is popular;):D

Re Zara Philips, I was at Burghley x-country a few years ago, and a mother with small children who were not that into it got them interested by saying there was a 'real princess' coming to jump next. They were really excited waiting to see her. She did it for them!:)

Has anyone see the US event rider Will Coleman in person? I didn't know of him until I saw something about him on youtube and I will admit I took a second look!

Polo blokes

Yes! Henry Brett has always been my favourite too look at! Add a few argentines into the mix and then you have quite the visual treat.

And you ever wondered why I got into playing polo?:D

That is so sweet!

I saw Will Coleman at Burghley a few years ago, we noticed him on the schedule and made a special effort to watch him as he had the same surname as my friend (yes we are that childish :p) all I can say is, I was glad I made the effort! *Swoon* :D :D

He is the rare man that I find attractive in riding gear!

You said about bill board and Nike endorsements. That, in England, is Mr Rooney.

So who do we call attractive out of Ronaldo, Messi, Torres? They all have massive contracts in advertising, none are attractive. What about Tiger Woods? These are the people who draw people in to footy and golf. I don't think any of them are a picture.

I'm not that keen on the idea of attractive people promoting sports just because they're pretty. Probably just me though.

I also think Alex Hua Tian is very cute, and I hear that he is a very nice young man indeed as well:)

he is absolutely lovely! Some friends and I were at hartpury for the one day 3* where he was whizzing around on his pushbike checking out the bogey fences (of which there seemed to be a few that day!) and he was so cute we all had a little crush on him I think, but in more of an 'ahh hes so sweet' way - he's totally not my type, not even remotely the rugby build I prefer! lol

Ah, I understand now. Quite right, he does promote and is well known but I think you will find him an exception rather than the rule.

I did originally like Christiano Ronaldo, though there are a few different ronaldo's. Some people think they are good looking. Horses for courses, as they say.

Tiger woods? I think many would think him quite handsome (although less so after his torrid affairs behind his stunning wife's back). Perhaps he is more attractive to Americans than British people?

Might be. A sad thing about our society. It tends to be shallow. Beckham wouldn't have become half of the star he is now if it wasn't for his looks or his wife.

Like hens teeth. No pun intended with regards to your username.:D

Hey, I've got loads of teeth... when I remember to put them in :p :D

I think the biggest problem is, riders advertise riding gear. No one un-horsey would buy a pair of trainers because a rider wore them - they all think we sit on our bums all the time! :D
Remember the 'sexy' advert for whatever it was - horsey girls in hay with nae clothes on! There was OUTRAGE!

.

But Ronaldo is a tool, Woods is a big love rat it turns out and Rooney is ugly AND a love rat.

Can't we pick people who are good at what they do and likeable rather than good at what they do and 'attractive'

You're right and it's societies fault but it makes me sad :(

Definate YES PLEASE to Frencis Wittington (georgous and respectable), possibly to Harry Mead, no to William and Ellen W, yes to Zara Philips (yes she comes from a wealthy background, but one of the few respected ones and she's worked bloody hard), Laura B no, Alex H-T, really? REALLY?, andrew gould, possibly....

See and this is why you shouldn't pick on the grounds of who is attractive :)

I don't see the correlation between that statement and what I posted in the reply you quoted? Some people see Pheobe as both camera friendly and talented.:)

That is what this thread is good for. Not everyone's ideas of good looking or commercially viable are the same. I want to hear different opinions of who you would like to see up there. If you don't want to have some fun that is entirely up to you.

I have however spent an entire week being mature and an adult. For this one night I would like to enjoy being able to say who I, personally, would like to see on the billboards (instead of Wayne- I look like Shrek and Mr. Potato head- Rooney) and hear what everyone elses choices lead too.

Forums, great place to chat!

He does come off as lovely and would very happily stand by him being promoted more.

Andrew Gould is smokin

I just googled and he looks EXACTLY like my family friend. Even down to the smile.

I can well believe that!
