What would depend on those things? Whether or not the activity should be legal? Because it doesn't. It's illegal regardless of the length of chase and regardless of whether or not it is cruel.
I started stopping my dogs chasing deer for a while. I don't even bother doing that now. I just let them chase them now whether it is necesary or not. Why shouldn't I? It's not cruel and I'm breaking the law as soon as I flush them out anyway. The police aren't interested and quite rightly so. Why should I bother obeying a ridiculous law?
On a personal note Endy. It's good to see you back in here. At least you care about what you are talking about and are willing to debate. Some of the recent 'antis' we've had in here have been absolutely appalling.
