I would stringly suggest anyone gets liability insurance at the evry least or check with your house insurance to see how their PL extends to your horse.

If your horse escapes and causes an accident or causes one with you on it, you could well be held liable. Seeing as the insuarnce company I work for are looking at paying £500,000 for a case where a horse caused an accident (escaped from a field) leaving a 3rd party with long term disability, I would always make sure I had PL cover at the very minimum. You never know what is round the corner.

KBIS

they've been great - have had 2 big claims this year and they made it very straightforward.

Having said that - they now seem to have a new clause about 'fair market value' - ie you can't insure your intermediate eventer that you bought as an unbroken 3yr old for the £3000 that you would paid for him and would spend on a new 3yr old if he broke.

Tried NFU originally but they weren't taking on single policies only horse&car.

One horse and the dog with NFU.

Other horse with petplan.

I've had a horse with KBIS who I had to make a large vet bill and death claim on and they were v good

Was with Petplan for 4 years and then this year went to NFU as they were cheaper this time and I got more included in my policy than I previously did with Petplan.

Petplan but only as I could get him insured online as I needed to get it there and then. Will be swapping over to NFU as I have everything else with NFU and my local branch is brilliant.
