Who buys all these young cobs?

I haven't seen the ads you mention as I don't look on facebook or the free sites, but I have seen some very poor looking specimens of all types, that with correct care and training, transform from ugly ducklings to swans. Sometimes, you need to look a bit beyond first appearances to see what they can become.

You can get a lot of cob for your money if you have a good eye.

Yearling colts and fillies seen advertised for £80 to £85 up north. Surely they aren't worth breeding even on the most basic care for the dam / youngster?

Not my cup of tea ut the ones bI have ridden / known have certainly not been quiet!

I know, I've got one :P But he was never an ugly duckling and I was very careful to buy one with his full history known.

I just dont understand where all these cobs are going?! I dont know that many people capable of bringing on young horses and the ones I do dont tend to go for cobs.

Me! Bought a coloured cob youngster (rising 2) on a whim for pennies last year. He's a cracker and will be a lovely hack/RC once he's ridden away this summer. I've had horses for 22years and still got suckered in :-p

Hunters! Honestly over here in Ireland its common to buy cheap 4yr olds, put a season on them then sell them on. A decent hunter who is both young and sane can go for big(ish when compared to the bought prices) money here. Most will go on to be ok little contributors to the hunting scene and often end up with pony club kids who want a safe(in the mothers eyes!) fast little machine to have fun on.
