Who cuts their own chaff?

Who here cuts their own chaff?

Do you use an old victorian-style manual chaff cutter, or is there some other new-fangled device you use these days?

I have a huge metal chaff cutter outside merlins box!!!! But its sooo rusty that I am not sure it would ever work. Will try to post a pic of it later

OMG when i was a teenager!! (im now 36) we had one of these, one person had to push straw in and the other turn the wheel. Iused to be so scared of pushing the straw in as thought it might get my arm, but loved turning the wheel.

Just a thought but has anyone tried this with a garden shredder?

I used to use an old iron chaf cutter. I was terrified of having my hang mangled, but I did enjoy the challenge of turning the wheel - I was only about 11.

The problem with using garden shreders is that you need to ensure that chaf is not too short, otherwise the horse could choke, I guess.

Considering the lack of replies, I guess there aren't any new fangle chaff cutters availible.
