I don't let many people ride the Dizzy one; not because I have some weird control or possesive thing going on, but because she can be a bit of an idiot, which may well scare the rider. Also, if they don't ride in a way that suits her, they won't get anything out of her, plus if they were to hit her they'd probably end up in a hedge

I will let quite a few people ride Roo, but only if I am there.
Neil has ridden her alot, and two friends from college. They can all get her working really nicely.
I have let my mum, sister and a friend ride her, none of them ride so are complete novice, but Roo is very good. I am very particular that they hold the reins long though, I don't want them gobbing Roo in the mouth because they don't have balance on a horse
 
I don't really have a choice in who rides Scooby - as I loan him from a riding school, he is a RS pony first, my pony second. He's not used loads - the most he'll ever have is two or three lessons in a week, and he's often not used at all all week, so it doesn't really affect when I can ride him. Most of the time I don't mind - I think it probably does him good to get used to lots of different people's riding styles, and the more exercise he gets the better! But sometimes I don't like it, for example yesterday when I found out that a young girl had been having her lessons on him and I know how she rides and I don't like it.

She keeps the reins so tight all the time, and if she feels like she's losing her balance the first thing she does is YANK them (we're always telling her off for that, but she does it instinctively). I hate the thought of her riding him because he's got a very sensitive mouth, he's happy to be ridden with just the seat and legs and you can do serpentines, jumping and all sorts on the buckle end! It's also dangerous for her, I think, because I know that one day when she yanks him too hard he's going to put her on the floor, and then I will feel bad if she hurts herself. But it's not my decision to make, so I just have to stand by and wince and give him lots of apples and cuddles when she's finished with him.

my instructor has ridden my horse, but then my instructors mum used to own my horse!!

I share my horse with my mum so she rides her.
apart from that I am a bit funny about who rides her, I know her and know she can be a bit funny if you dont ride her how she is confortable with, so im a bit funny about other people on her, and it would only ever be if im there!

I'm only aloud to ride Py, part of the loan agreement.....so if my horses go like sh*t...there is only myself to blame lol
 
I would let anyone ride my horse (who is experienced) but no one will!

My instructor has rode him a few times and hopefully will again soon, but the others at the yard cant afford to be hurt if he does something silly

OH rides FB - and I miss riding him as Ari is hard work. I have let a female friend wander round the village on FB. Friend, Juan, has ridden both FB and Ari, but only because I couldn't say no. He's a very generous bloke with his time, his hay and his horses and I'd have felt a bit petty saying no. Not making a habit of it though. I'm a bit possessive about them.
 
on a regular basis, only me and my YO/RI for my mare and in total only 5 people have ever ridden her including me and YO. loads of people have ridden my boy as he is safe as houses.
 
No one else is allowed to ride mine, my instructor has ridden the one mare two or three times maybe in years.

I don't like anyone else riding her and I don't know anyone that would want to, she's very quirky.....but I love her

my old pony was on working livery, but was only used by the University teams for training and a couple of more advanced classes at the weekend (he could be a proper git and nobody wanted to ride him!)-i ran the stable yard for them at the weekend when half the staff didn't turn up so they wanted to keep me sweet!

the horses I currently ride aren't ridden by many people, it's just me and my friend who ride her Arab cos she's rather quirky and she doesn't own her so technically it should only be her riding.
 
The new boy is riddn by several people, if he is to have ride judges then it is important he experiences varying styles of riding. All have to be competent mind and seen as he has only recently been backed definately no novices - inc myself with that one!!
I am a bit funny though, and having had a suggestion for a particular jockey to ride him in the intermediates early next year i'm not keen she is a rider who uses her hands for everything! So far he has had 4 different riders. However the schooling early next year will only be done by the producer allothers will be on hacking duties
 
I have only let my OH and 1 friend(she is a very experienced rider) ride Gil. He does not like unbalanced riders and can take off with them. Even if he wasn't like this I am very possessive anyway lol
 
I'm a total control freak, I don't let anyone other than OH and Ellie's old owner near my horses let alone ride them!

OH rode Ells before she retired, as did her old owner but I wouldn't let anyone else out on her.

If the YO brought Ells in last winter at all I would ring and make sure she was in OK and as soon as I got home I would run down to the yard to check on her!
 
I let my instructor ride and my friend who events but thats about it (well when my horse is in work sigh). I think it is important for him to have a rider that knows what they are doing every once in a while

Only myself and my son. Not that she is unsafe in any way in fact she is a perfect horse for teaching new riders, however having nursed her through an injury for the last 6 months when I had hoped to compete this year I am inclined to keep a tighter control on her activities.
 
Just me on my girly! I don't know many people that I would want to put on her TBH - she is fine with me, but I would hate for her to revert to her old ways because someone on her back is doing something she doesn't like. It is more protecting myself as much as looking after her.

Showing is out of the question for us (nasty big scar on her back leg caused by previous idiotic owner...

Pilfer; my mum is allowed to hack him but no-one else rides him and i wouldn't like anyone to school him.

Millie; a local pro rider and that is it- she's a bit of a minx!

Vinnie; he's only been broken about 2 weeks so only me so far!
 
It's more a question of who would want to ride my horse! He's very spooky and sharp and can put in a cracking buck - friends who've seen him in action would probably rather get on an unbroken Wild West mustang ... It's not that I think I'm a better rider than they are, just that I've got used to his little ways over the years...

Only two other people have ever ridden him apart from me - my trainer and a very experienced friend when he was just backed.
 
My riding instructors occasionally sit on Tia during a lesson to show me something or if i'm having a particular problem its easier for them to work how to fix it. A couple of my friends have had a go on her but I wouldnt let them ride her regularly as they dont get her going that nicely. After I fractured one of my vertebrae my riding instructors friend has been riding Tia while I couldnt and schooling her quite well. I'm going to have to start riding more myself now though so at some point soon I need to tell her not to ride Tia as much as she does now

not many are allowed to jump him and I wouldnt let anyone jump him without me there.

He has given novice friends their first taste of horses, and various neighbours grandchildren in relay when they come on mass and he is an absolute gem with them. (and will then be a pain in the backside as soon as I get back on

my mum and sis ride him for me, as have numerous riding friends. He loves jumping with one of my friends but I do have to encourage them to slow down a bit

Kenellen is now retired but I used to let an 11 year old ride him and he used to be a perfect gent and took care of her, when it came to me riding him he got fizzy and turned back into race horse mode. It seemed that with him, the more confident and experienced you were he'd act the fool, but put a novice 11 year old on him and he acts like a donkey. Strange I know...

Izzy has also had the 11 year old sat on her bareback coming up from the field. That's all though as she is now turned away for the winter until she turns 4 next year ....can't wait. But I don't mind the odd friend getting on her as long as they have experience with green horses.
 
I'm quite flexible about who rides Minstral but only ever if I am on site. I would never let anyone take him out of view.

Alot of people have had wee shots on him, (including children, with me walking beside him) however if he feels the rider isn't very confident he will nap back to me, as he takes his confidence from his rider.

However with confident, capable riders he pulls out all the stops for them.
