Who DOESN'T use travelling boots?

Hmmm, yes and no, it depends... With my mare... Always, with my furry cob... Never. With Ben, I was so worried as I'd ordered wraps and bandages but they didn't arrive until the day before the show so no time to get him used to them, luckily he wore them fine, no walking like a duck so I was happy to travel him in them... However, I generally boot up to go to a show and leave unbooted to come home. We did a two hour journey unbooted back from royal Cornwall but he is so stable to travel and we have a video link so I can watch him at all times.

I travel in the minimum depending on the situation. If coblet is in a trailer then he wears bandages and (hock boots for cleanliness on the way there!) and over reach boots on any shod feet. He may have a velcro tail wrap too to keep tail flat before class.

If he's in a herringbone lorry though, he wears more, as when he braces against the wall, he gets marks on his bum, so is presumably leaning more on the wall and so more in need of protection.

I always think that horses walk so strangely in travel boots they must be uncomfortable and so more likely to cause problems if they can't move normally. I like to have something in case of knocks, but not full travel boots - I really like sports boots as a compromise since they are easy to use but not too restrictive and give decent coverage...

Nope, I don't, youngster travels quietly and happily, so does older pony. Older pony does have a set of those snuggy hood leg wraps but I can't remember when I last put them on, and I hate tail bandages with a passion :)

I used to bandage years ago but don't use anything on my girls now. All are barefoot and travel well. Travel boots just seem to make them hot, inevitably slip and get covered in poo.
Jasmine has a tendency to jump off the ramp when unloading and she has taken chunks off her legs at times (she is a bit of a spanner :) ) but she hates boots and gets arsey and starts waving her legs about. Cuts and scrapes don't seem to bother her (being the spawn of Satan you see, she feels no pain :D )
Only joking!!

I sent a gelding down south and was supplied with boots but I couldn't get the damned things to stay on! Eric Gillies arrived and said they don't recommend them as they can slip down and restrict blood flow to the feet so best off. I've never used them since.

I think with anything they are a ness with some horses but not with others. what annoys me most is when put on incorrectly esp tail bandages *** winces***
