Who else is broken?

Looks like I'm gonna be broken for a good while longer! Been referred to a cartilage specialist to discuss cartilage implants

can I join ? I "think" I qualify, especially as mine are all riding incidents...

Having injured my knee by riding into a metal gate two days ago, TODAY, I was tightening the girth from up top, and heard my back rip - and the disc is out (not the first time). Luckily hubs was there, hoping for a walk in the sunshine, and managed to get me off by sliding backwards off my beloved, gentle Shy.

I am now quietly pissed as the pain are shock are just yuck.

Ah trouble that's awful, sorry I only just read your post. 3.5 months? flippin heck, I'd be climbing the walls. Are your days filled with jeremy kyle too then? :o

Thanks MrsM, I feel such a fraud when pretty much all of the breaks on this thread are absolutely nuts!!!

'course you can join! :D We'll all be broken together!! I read your knee post earlier and it made me wince,....will you be watching JK too?

I was climbing the Walls after week 1!

To make it that bit better, I've also developed a serious addiction to the only pain meds that help!

Wonderful.

I have not yet succumbed to JK...but all the scrubs re runs are a life saver!

The silver lining to this is that my physio therapist is seriously hot!

Nah doesn't count as an addiction if you're in pain :D Actually my consultant is rather fetching too, I have considered bashing my finger so I can continue to gaze, however I couldn't cope with the subsequent pain and I'm sure my hubby (and my employer) would object somewhat ;)

Unfortunately it does....I missed one. Week or two back and I was seriously distressed, crying, could have torn my own skin off as my muscles itched so much, restless, anxious.....took a tablet and was fine within thirty mins...but took days for my emotions to settle down, the slightest thing became the end of my world!

I'm normally pretty down to earth so to have no control like that was scary! Have spoken to my GP and she says well deal with coming off them when the time comes...but I'll never miss another one again! I now have an alarm set on my phone!

Crumbs! Thought I was broken but after reading about you lot, realise am only slightly dented! Pony spooked, bucked then bolted - while on the lunge - and me with no reins or stirrups. Landed on back, managed to start breatheing again after about 3 minutes (much to the relief of the lungeur) and went to the hospital a couple of days later. Cracked ribs. In my back. 6 weeks on, still healing. Fed up. But now completely humbled. Get well soon, everyone!

Well, thankfully I'm not, but my ex father in law is busted again, I could nearly set up a daily journal for him, he's so accident prone. This time, he broke his leg, from a kick out hunting, and suffered a blood clot 10 days later. Now, for him, that was a good one, he's broken every bone ever, I bought him a walking stick for xmas one year, as he'd broken something for 4 years in a row on st stephens day. He broke his jaw that year, so even the superglue went unused. Thank god he gas a great sense of hunour!! Some people are just unfortuneate, as he's prob the best hoseman i've met, he just keeps forgetting that he's 63 and not 21!!!!

Is it Tramadol?

We all must be mad!!

At the age of 57, after 10 years out of horses and much deliberation I bought myself a lovely knabstrupper yearling. Just before xmas leading her from the field to the stable she shied and mowed straight into me dislocating (dislocation was through the top of the socket) and fracturing my shoulder. I live on my own and if it hadn't been for some brilliant friends would have found myself up the creek without a paddle to say the least. Although I am on the mend (still along way to go) and in pain my main worry is my youngster. I am now looking for a yard where I can get help with handling her. However, I now realise that my confidence has taken a huge battering and am wondering whether I am actually too old to be actively around a youngster. Whether I should actually think of selling my dream horse.

Has anyone else found themselves in a similar situation and what was the outcome??

To all those people who have posted their injuries (mine seems insignificent to some of them) I wish you all a swift recovery and lots of love !! :)

Eeek!! I suppose if you've been on them for that long,... that's scary! That must've been so scary!!

I mentioned to consultant yesterday that I'd had trouble sleeping and he was worryingly too keen to represcribe me Tramadol, I said No straight away as I'm not in that much pain any more it's just uncomfy to sleep so he's prescribed me codeine instead. I'm taking them when only absolutely neccesary to knock me out so I can sleep because in the last 3 weeks I've had so much under instruction that i'll be rattling: CoCodamol/Paracetamol/Morphine/Tramadol/Diclofenac/Soluble Paracetamol/Ibuprofen.

Hollywood - that sounds so painful. I'm quite lucky because hubby is playing nurse for a while, I'm usually quite independant "don't need a man to help me" blah, so i think he secretly quite likes me being incapacitated lol I can't help with your youngster question but get well soon :D

Can I join in??? I fell on the ice on the 18th December - hailine fractures of both radial heads, bruised pelvis and whiplash. Still off work as can not push through my hand, straighten or bend my elbow fully and reduced grip in the right side. Awaiting an MRI next week of my wrist as they think I damaged that also and its shifted the ulna causing the wrist / elbow pain and clickin / cracking and locking. Just started driving short distances this week. Friend started riding my horse at weekend and very jealous. The other horse started to go out SJ in Oct and then what with the bad weather and this he's just sat in a field. Was hoping to be out competing properly in the spring - thats really not going to happen now.
