I was wondering who else went to Chilham ODE today (21st) and how you all got on! I had a go at the novice - and it was so underheight! We did an OK dressage, although got a terrible mark because we had the evil judge that was marking everyone in arena B harshly, so I got 45 penalties. Clear show jumping and a refusal in XC at the skinny log roll ahhh We only got 6 time penalties which means if I hadn't of refused would have only had about 1 time fault too fast and come about 4th. However, you can imagine how many people would be saying similar things. Next year I'm deffo doing intermediate.

Oh yes, and my mum had an OK day I suppose, average dressage - 45 faults with the nice judge, 4 knock downs

- 16 faults, and clear XC with 20 time faults (which wasn't tinkers fault, he's not very fit). Really, she just went to have a go at her first intermediate. The show jumping was seriously underheight so tinker didnt even bother - shame really. She also came 10th.

So how did you all get on then??

I was really dissappointed with the height - I was gutted that I didn't enter the second one when I walked the course - but they built so big at the HT earlier in the year I was worried it would be too big for us. There was no way the SJ was 2'6!! And XC I was jumping the same course I did at the 2'3 earlier in the year backwards - so a little bit of a shame they didn't put in a few of the bigger fences as the 2'9 looked such a lovely course!

Saying that we had a brilliant day and my little man did a super dressage of 26 and our first double clear and it actually rode better than I thought it would - was a nice last event of the season and we won it - our first ever win at a ODE - proved that all the hard work is paying off now!! Was over the moon and am still buzzing now!!

You all know that I admin at Chilham (saw your result - Ernikins well done).

So busy I only saw the show jumps BEFORE anyone at 7:30am when I arrived - I thought they were small BUT, the show jumping proved enough for many - as the Class results will show when they go up on the website.

Ali was very conscious that it was very late in the season and couldn't guarantee the conditions when she designed the course (same for Mally on the SJ) - so erred on the side of safety.

Hope everyone had a good day. I'm seriously tired now - off to watch a recorded Strictly Come Dancing Results Show (a secret vice)

Thank you Grit - it was fantastic!!
Completely understand why it was built smaller - and there were enough questions for it stil to be a challenge - I had a fantastic round and could really attack the fences confidently and work on getting them as good as possible rather than worry if I would even get round!! My boy found the orange sand on some of the take offs extremely scary!!
Well done to all the organisers - it was very well run and both me and my friend who came 4th had a great day!! Looking forward to tackling the bigger class next year!!

Thank you!! Sadly that was not me - would have been amazing to win that aswell!!!! I did win the trophy for the section though which is massive and taking pride of place in our lounge now!!!

And my report for the Open is:

32.8 in the dressage - the best we've had this year.
Clear over the humongous SJ, even when we arrived at jump 6 in the wrong place, thanks Rosie for getting us out of that one!
And clear in the XC within the time.

So we won our class too!!!!!

Nice big red rossie, silver cup and some vouchers. Thanks sponsors!

Twas a lovely day and even blue sky in the photo which is always nice.

Wow that is brilliant!! Well done - they were lovely rosettes - so it must have been the winner of class 2 that won the rug and £200 then!!

I know - wow - I have already spent it in my head!! Its a nice thing to do at an event though that someone gets a big prize like that!!

Yes, it is. Had also spent it in my head: new reins, saddlecloth, brushing boots or even towards a synthetic dressage saddle. Dream on!

new reins, stirrups and leathers for my new saddle, some new travel boots, dressage bridle, maybe some breeches for me... the list could go on - oh well maybe the credit card can help!!! eeek!

It was one of the winners in Class 1. If you're desperate I'll open the computer system and look.

Can't watch Strictly, OH has snooker on and having ignored family all day to looked after you lot, I'd better not demand the tv remote control now.

Hope you're all understanding the 'behind-the-scenes' of a events organiser !!!!

Lucky person!! It certainly showed all the hard work that went on - as it seemed very organised and everyone was very friendly and cheerful!! Makes such a difference!! Thank you to all of you.

Oh wow thanks madhossy

It wasn't the best round ive ever done I was all over the place but just went for a nice relaxed ride XD Well done everyone and thanks Grit for the fab day out Oh yes, and remember to post the links to your pics in the picture gallery once they're up!!

I went on a friends pony who ive not ridden all that much while mine is still injured.

Its was a great day and was as usual VERY well run.

I dont think the novice was too easy- at the end of the day its for novice rider of horses/ponies not those who want to jump bigger. The 2 fences i pooed myself at when i course walked was the large log roll and the tiger trap up the hill. I suspect that skinney log roll caught many riders out as it was on a camber and off a funny line from fence 6 a+b.

My mount has behavioural problems at grass shows, esp big ones but i managed to keep him under control reasonable well.

Was late to dressage warm up

so went in not very well almost cold. The pony had a major bucking tamtrum right infrount of the dressage steward
shocked.gif
. Got him into the test i went wrong the judge ( a man! ) was so sweet
grin.gif
pony then proceeded to do a whopping fly buck on the last canter hehehehe. Judge spoke to mr bears owner and told her i did very well and laughted saying many rider would have been launched into ornit by that hehe.

I went into sj and had fence 7 down as he got too close but it went horribly wrong at fence 9a. He had spooked at the fence 3 filler but got him over it but coming into 9a i got after him but he backed off of the filler and slammed the brakes on. The porr lad slid hard into the fence sending the hole thing filler and all flying
frown.gif
. Unfortuanly he sipped badly and ended up sitting on his bottom! He refused again so i decided to just skip 9a and just pop 9b
grin.gif
.

Intened to go xc but went back to sj warm up to pop the fence and he totally lost his confidence and refused the tiny x pole
shocked.gif
. I got him over but he wasnt happy so took him up and tried the warm up log but nope.

I was gutted but it wasnt fair to run him xc after that stop.

Got him home and popped a few fences at home and got his confidence back.

I was still very proud of him as he behaved so well other than the bucking he didnt kick out at all
grin.gif
.

Well done to all who went.

Well done for being able to think of your horses long term welfare and opting to skip the x/c and work at home. Sounds so obvious, but its really hard to do.

Hope to see you next year.

Thanks grit it was hard as i love to xc but he didnt feel i right and if it were my own horse i would have w/d too. When your riding somone elses horse you have a big resonsibilty to take care of it and the pony had to be my priority.

The annoying thing was i took him last sat and he flew everything but the slip really did frighten him ( i have it on video ) and he had mud on him little bum from sitting down.

Im hopeful when my own horse returns to work next year after her injury and op she will be able to jump low key intime. I start to ride he ride her in jan ( been out on box rest since april but has now been turned out for 10 days and doing well ) and will do nothing but flat work and hacking for 6 months to strenghten her leg.

It must be such a feeling to do so well like some of you did.

A massive well done to thw two of you who won sections!

Did you jade?. I felt bad about it and usually blame myself for any mistakes made but i honestly feel like i did all i could and it was just one of those things. I shall take him back there in a few weeks hopefully and have another play xc with him.

This is the video of the stop. He got too close to a few and rolled pole number 7 but the stop is what scared him. Those jump for joy fences are heavy and he sent the whole thing flying then lost his nerve.

This are him in the dressage he was overbent here but this is a pony who usually pokes his nose out. he really went forward and worked through.

Your pics are lovely its a shame you had a stop at the log roll but it was a tricky fence to ride so you did very well.

I think you all did really well ladies

Yes it definatly was you that watched I remember you shouting at him 'go on go on'
tongue.gif
well ridden and I agree with the photos he didn't even take a picture of my mum jumping, just loads of her going though the water!
