This horse is being shot next week this is your chance to save it.

It has BD points, jumps and hunts. Its a bay warmblood about 16.2hh I think its about 9 years old. Was bought for £1.

But it has to be kept out 24/7 and box walks at 90 miles an hour. It also is very difficult to load but am sure some Parelli will sort it out.

I think there are some other issues!

Owner has lost all patience with it hence the bullet.

Put it on Project horses.co.uk
there are lots of people who would give this horse a chance!

putting it down is just an easy way out...!

Any more info? - I do 24/7 turnout when possible! And I'm hoping to be down your way Saturday and then next week with a lorry!

Actually the horse is in a very proffessional home I think they were its last chance. From all accounts its an absolute nightmare if you are not on board.

I have no problem with healthy horses being destroyed I think its far better than them falling into the wrong hands. The reason I sort of posted this is because everyone believes they can turn a horse round but maybe sometimes humans have inflicted too much damage in the past or the horse is slightly mental.

I think they do not want to advertise it just in case something happened and they knew about it all along even if new buyer was told implicitly.

if it is actively dangerous to people, then perhaps it is better if it is pts. if, however, the issues are less lethal than that, then i'm sure they would be better offering it to ILPH or something maybe, if no-one here can have it?

good grief lec...just take to the butchers.

Have to agree JM, its obviously been passed on a few times if she bought if for a quid. If a pro yard are at the end of their tether with it I reckon thats the end of it.

You have to think of the horse here and its not fair to keep it going any longer.

Ho hum - I already have one "going to be destroyed" pony who has been a fantastic little man for us but he was relatively easy in that he only flips if he thinks he's being threatened or has made a mistake (he has ridden issues too). We've had him nearly 5 years now. He is in my will to be destroyed if I die before him purely because I don't know how he will react to new people and it's not fair on him to have that change. ETA Actually I do know how he will react - terrified and aggressive.

I feel sorry for the horse - and without its problems it's just what I'm looking for - but it's probably too much if it's a nightmare all the time and with no apparent reasons why.

Hope he gets safely to where ever he's going for his eternal sleep.

this confirms my first reply......

book it in asap..

Where I worked years ago we had one horse that had to be destroyed - it was perfectly healthy in fact a stunning stallion, but he was so dangerous that he had to be shut in a stable - gettiing him in there was a LONG procedure and he injured a few people. I am not sure about how they even got near him to do it as he would attack as if to kill

. But that was over 10 years ago now.

Unfortunately his father was very flighty - would take 2 people to lead him.

Unfortunately some horses just cannot be domesticated, and we do seem to forget that they are dangerous animals who can kill

I have to say then if it's in a professional home and they can't deal with it then it probably is best. I knew a horse that used to flip out every now and then, he was sold and the new owners were informed exactly what he was like, he was then sold again and again the new owner knew the full story. He was with her for 3 years and didn't put a foot wrong until the day he flipped again and she died.
Never want to hear that kind of story again.

Do not worry JM guess where it lives!! It has not got very far to go.

I think this is what my point was but probably badly worded that not every horse can be saved nor should it.

Put it this way if it was not a liability then I would have had it! I am never one to turn down sane cheap horses.

It's my view that unless the horse is truly dangerous it should not be shot. So many people give up when they have one or two problems come along. If it was mine, I wouldn't give up until I had exhausted all avenues of trying to help it. Of course, if it is truly dangerous or just keeps getting passed from one owner to the next (probably because the owners are not commited to helping or are not experienced enough?) then maybe it is time to reconsider.

I'll buy it for a £1. Then make £400 profit on it.

why not contact the local RSPCA im sure they would have it rather than kill the poor thing, surly if it doesnt hurt anyone then just leave him in a feild and retire him! if i had my own land i woul have him in a flash, please someone save him from death!!

How is this horse dangerous? I have not seen any wording saying it is?! All Ive read is that it has to live out 24/7 (whats the problem with this?!), box walks (however if turned out then it wont do this!) and won't load (LOADS of horses are problem loaders!). One of my horses went through a phase of launching about in the trailer as a 3 and 4yo, it was extremely dangerous as he'd literally try to jump out however with time and patience eventually he's now fine. Ive also had a horse who bolted through barbed wire fences, but again he is now fine! Lots of horses have issues which lets be honest, are mostly caused by humans.

Sorry, but yet again Im sickened by so many people saying to put it to sleep when not even knowing the background of this horse and what's been done to help him. ALL horses are capable of "flipping", we all know that any horse can surprise us. This horse sounds unhappy more than anything. Who says this horse wouldn't respond better in a one-to-one home rather than a "professional" yard where Im sure it doesn't get enough time and effort devoted to it? All yards have methods they use, another yard / person may suit it far more.

Only if all other avenues have been visited would I ever even consider having a horse PTS.

Please don't be so melodramatic about it! If this horse is likely to be a danger to anyone then the best place for him would be Potters or their equivalent, no question about it. I feel you need to be a bit more realistic about lost causes and not sentimental before someone gets hurt.
