Who feeds hay, and who feeds haylage?

Hay this year as found local farmer with good stuff. Ponies all much slimmer this year and it's not dusty so even the one or two who used to cough don't. Really hope don't have to go back to haylage, though i used to swear by it.

Big bale haylage, I have a great local supplier. I buy haylage because I can't guarantee the quality of the hay although last year's harvest was superb so I've been buying a few bales of hay and I'm feeding 2 part haylage to 1 part hay at the moment. Haylage should be lower in sugar than hay because of the fermenting process. I'm not sure I'd go back to hay but I like giving them a choice.

I feed both - large bale, made by a local farmer and excellent quality. The haylage just gives my boy that extra boost he needs in winter, and I never have a problem with it going off before I've used a whole bale.

I'm with doriangrey and feed approx two parts haylage to one part hay.

Once the grass comes in properly, he will go onto just hay.
