Who feeds Pro Hoof - good or bad?

Thanks AH. I decided to go ahead with it after I posted that and I've fed it (a bit sporadically it's true) ever since. My horses both seem to eat it happily enough but they aren't what you would call fussy feediers ;)

I feed Pro Hoof - just ordered my second batch today actually :)
I originally started feeding the hoof supp by ForagePlus but my VERY fussy mare would just not eat it. After persevering for several weeks, i swapped to Pro Hoof which amazingly she will eat as long as it's fed with mint and linseed and plenty of Spillers Hi Fibre cubes (soaked so she can't pick them out) to hide the taste :D

Her terrible hooves are now beginning to look better, stronger - there was infection in her frogs and hooves - this is all better now. I am (I think....) going to have her back shoes off next time the farrier visits. NEVER thought I'd say that :D

Anyway, Pro Hoof - brilliant stuff.

I started feeding Pro Hoof in the autumn as much for the gut as the hooves having previously fed Top Spec Anti Lam for years. I feed it alongside Hi Fi Molasses-free chaf and Speedibeet.

One thing I have noticed is that I haven't had the same problem with weight gain as I did with the Top Spec which makes you wonder just how much sugar there is in it (the Top Spec) despite being for laminitics.

I have been using Pro Balance for a couple of months now. I feed it with Alfa A molasses free, micronised linseed and salt. While this grassis so wet I also add a smidge extra Mag Ox.
Cob has a shiney shiney coat and despite all this rain, his white line still looks pretty tight.
Very hapy!

I can absolutely vouch for Ross and Mel, they are passionate about hoof health and always willing to advise. Ross has been helping me through the transition of my TB mare to barefoot. Ross's advice to me was to not change anything in her diet to start with and see what (if any) probs we had then feed/supplement to suit those rather than throw everything at her. She's currently on Pro Hoof to try to improve her hoof growth rate

I feed pro balance to both of mine, it's less expensive because it doesn't have some of the ingredients that the pro hoof has but in all honesty it's working just fine for both of mine. My cob went on it in June when he came home from Rockley and since it was going so well with him barefoot I started feeding my 5 year old the same and took her shoes off a few weeks before Christmas. She's not struggling at all. I feed both of them pro balance, mag ox at a 50ml scoop daily, micronised linseed, handful of spillers hi fibre nuts, coolstance copra meal, scoop of speedibeet and salt. Both are in fabulous condition and although it's been a bit tricky getting all the stuff from different places it works a treat. If either need more weight on I up the copra or the linseed (which I did when it started getting colder) and if the workload eases off I drop them off again. Perfect :)

Oh and service really is fabulous from the pro balance people too, they're brilliant. :)

Is there much difference between this and the pro balance? When would you feed this rather than the balance?

I chose to go with the pro hoof mainly because mine is a stressy poor doer and I thought the digestive aids might be beneficial. Also because she had actual problems with her feet so I thought it was worth getting her the more high spec product to help "fix" them and then drop down to the lower one for maintenence in future.

I've been toying with switching to pro hoof but Forage Plus have just brought out a hoof health balancer so I've switched to that. It is pricey but has higher levels of some minerals which I'm loath to reduce as I've seen such good results in hooves, coats and just general well being and contentment which I can't really put a finger on.

I can also say that the seller is certainly kosha and they are both very nice, genuine people.

I feed Pro Hoof, and just in the 2 months he's been on it, I think that there has been a noticeable difference in him. He's about a month out of shoes, and the farrier commented on how good his feet and white line are looking since the last visit.

I ran out and the local feed merchants had TopSpec on offer so I got some of that to tide me over - he had a week on the TS and got a bit lacklustre and footy. The only thing different was the TS, so stopped it and he has perked up again...

The Pro Hoof is expensive, but I don't need to use anything else with it, so it works out the same cost to feed overall. I feed the Pro Hoof with speedibeet, micronised linseed, and a handful of Graze-on (previously Safe & Sound which he loved, but had a couple of bags that were very sticky, and it's duplicating some of the Pro Hoof).
