I got mine yesterday and was thinking about wearing it riding but I've now been told that this is cheating!! so just wondered if anyone else has one and wears it when they ride?

I was quite suprised that before I even got to work this morning I'd done 3k steps, around the yard, just feeding my 3!!

I've been looking into one of these as I want one for Christmas! It seems from what I've read that it doesn't really cope with riding - it counts the horse's steps as your own and there doesn't seem to be any way of telling it otherwise. I think this is a shame but I guess at the moment they're just not advanced enough to cope with a wide range of sports. The options seem to be either take it off while riding and then log it later as an activity, or just accept that if you've been riding your step count will be epic!

Do let us know how you get on, I'd be interested to hear how other people get round it.

I have a fit bit and about 12 other people at work do too - we have a work week challenge which runs everyweek and yes the days i ride my step count is epic, but took me a while to realise that it was because i was still wearing it to ride! oops . . .

Oh that is a shame!! especially when you work so much harder when you ride!! I will just track it on my ww app separately then!

I'm doing a work week challenge with anothe friend, and I'm already 4.5k steps a head of her!! went for a nice walk into town on my lunch break, I must win! I really needed something to motivate me to start exercising again, so hopefully I will continue with it!!

I have one. Sat in the box and been worn once 😂😂 I got it and a week later my OH got me an Apple Watch so I forgot all about the poor Fitbit!

I've been looking at apple watches today - what do you think of it?

Sorry to butt in OP :)

I've got one but haven't ridden in it yet (pony off games) The only thing I've noticed is that the health app on my iPhone and the Fitbit don't tally on the distance walked everyday. It can vary from half a mile to 3 miles. I do walk a lot of miles as I'm a postie and then walk 3 dogs so who knows ?

It's helped me lose weight (reason I got it) purely as it makes me think before I eat.

I have a Fitbit charge. I mostly use it as a watch! At first I religiously synced it with Myfitnesspal and now I can't be bothered. I don't take it off for riding I just kept an eye on how many steps were for riding and adjusted. It doesn't count any exercise like cycling or cross-trainer.
Most importantly it doesn't motivate me at all.

I've got a fitbit and love it!

I do wear it for riding though - my view being that I'm not sat on the sofa so the activity should count ;)

I leave mine on all the time as I have no confidence in the clasp to reattach afterwards. I have already mislaid it once in the school and once in the tack room.

This is because your iPhone uses GPS to track where you walk so is more accurate, Fitbit just multiplies your number of steps with your step length (which is something you can amend in Settings).

Hope that helps!
