Morning all!

Particularly those who have horses that crib/windsuck out in the field?

Has any other horses out their copied it?

Does anyone treat you differently and put a black mark on your horses?

Or is everyones horses perfect and its just mine!? :P

From the flip side - I have been stabled with horses that have cribbed and some that have weaved.

Never seen any other horses copy them.

How about in the field? Have you ever seen or heard of those with cribbers windsuck on other horses? Maybe if there had nothing to do it on??

I've owned a horse that weaved unbelievably and no horses ever copied him. I've also had a horse who windsucked quite badly and no-one copied him either. The weaver was a bit of a problem from a management point of view, as in I had to be first and last on the yard to try and keep him happy, but I never hd any probs finding yards or anything like that. I think people are more tolerant now (I might be wrong) and realise that horses won't copy if they are not bored/hungry.

My tb cribs badly , if he has nothing to crib on ie gate fence post etc he will crib on poor Uggy.

They are all turned out 24/7 and they have never tried to copy him

a friend who has bred quite a lot of horses had 2, a full brother and sister, who cribbed and windsucked, even while out in the field. neither of their parents did, they'd never seen another horse do it (well, the younger one had seen it's elder sibling do it, but that was all)... and none of their half-brother or sisters did it. for some reason, that mix of genes led to horses that did it. very very strange, but interesting, i think. the baby horses sometimes watched and tried to work out what they were doing, i think, but couldn't work out how to copy.

We have 3 weavers and 2 windsuckers at our yard (quite bad) wind suck in the field. Havent seen any of the other 20 odd horses doing it although there is a youngster in the same stable block as the two windsuckers so will be interesting to see if he picks up the habbit!!!
