....or girl.... And what do they do?

Everyone on my yard says that Josh is a mummy's boy because he mithers for me when I'm not there and seeks my attention when I am by kicking the door (norty). He's 19 now and I'm 39 and I don't think either of us are going to change :D

I most definitely do :P
To the point where 3 of my friends who have come to ride him haven't been able to get bridle on him or mount ( both of which he does perfect with me). Or maybe he's just a little S*** who knows he cant get away with anything with me :P

I do! When it's getting close to feed time, Tont calls to every car that goes past, waiting for me  When he sees me, he trots over and then follows me everywhere :p

I'm also the only one who can catch him

absolutly, he calls when he heres me come through the gate, which is at the top of a long drive, i always say 'morning boys' and he wickers back, somtimes i just speak to him and he will wicker back, (is that how you spell wicker?? :-/ )
if hes out in paddock and im just pottering round the yard, if he heres me he will call, even though hes quite a way away, hes got incedible hearing, also if hes in the paddock behind the stables and im pottering while he grazes his eyes follow me everywhere, he follows me round the field, he will come galloping over to me when i call him even if ive just turned him out, hes a proper mummys boy and i love him to bits and he knows it :-)

Captain is the biggest mummy's boy! He is 17 and a half and sometimes still thinks he is a colt! He throws his toys out of the cot if anyone but Elizabeth rides him, will tolerate me and YO but hates anyone else and will do his best to launch them, naughty boy!

As soon as you enter the barn he is banging, pulls faces if you talk to other horses, he demands hugs and loves all the time. He is spoilt rotten, this horse even used to have an after dinner mint after his evening bucket! More rugs than any horse could possibly ever need. Is allowed his own decisions generally. In fact simply spoilt to death, do I care? Not one bit! He has had a hard life, been abused and neglected. Now he is retired and a pampered boy and will be for the rest of his life.

He pines for us when we go away and apparently becomes a right grumpy guts! Our YO says she knows when we are coming because he stands stock still and looks out the barn for us. We always get a wonderful welcome.

He owes us nothing and gives so much love and joy to us that I would not change him for the world, he is just my baby boy. Just to add he is a perfect gentleman on the ground and is a sweetheart all around really.

Yep! :D He be big, black n soppy. :D (Well muddy brown in my siggy :D) But to be fair - both the horses in my siggy ( and the cat) are mommy's boys. Guaranteed fun and fireworks when I am not around and the OH is left holding the fort. If its not the cats, its the horses and vice versa. Trouble is they pretend butter wouldn't melt when I am around. :D

I do Larry he is a Mummys boy he is also a bit of a diva!! When my sister rides him all I have to do is say stop and he will stand still or if I click him he will trot on and if I click again he will canter!! He will only let me do certain things and won't let anybody else do them!! Its like he is human sometimes!! But my new horse is becoming the same way just as my cat is lol

I do. 100% he is a mummys boy. Hes spoilt rotten and everyone thinks im daft considering what hes put me through, for example when i first got him he tried to launch me into a jcb, 4 feet off the ground, the best rodeo impression a tb can do. He almost ended up giving me concussion with a headbutt, he put me in hospital with a broken foot, but i still love him. He gets everything he needs or might possibly need,

But with all the crap i go through, hes there for me. I want to say he would protect me whenever he could, but he doesn't. He hides behind me whenever anyone seems threatening, he sulks if i leave him out in the rain. I've never once pushed him into something that he doesn't want to do, and through that he started to trust me. My relationship seems to be crumbling and my boy seems to know, he'll stand perfectly still when im feeling low, he'll stand by the gate waiting for me. Yet someone else is looking after him cause of the issues i have, and they took him out on a 10 min hack and he refused to walk any further. He just turned round and walked home, my friend said he seemed honestly confused to why mummy wasnt showing him the way.

Yep, a mummy's boy but with 2 carefully chosen mummies and a daddy. He'll boxwalk and wicker, luck faces, walk perfectly gentlemanly in hand and be super careful when mounted with either of the three chosen ones. Anybody else and he can rush, barge, nip and even just lie down (with rider on board!)... Not a nice trait for a big black 17.2 h boy!

Absolutely. Although not in a rude way. He is perfectly ok if someone else rides him for example but will spend the entire time with his eye and ear pinned on mummy! He was backed recently and he would only trot in the beginning if I ran! This is how we helped him learn the on board aids by me walking/halting and running around while our trainer rode him. He seems to have absolute trust in me and only me. It's very sweet. He is pretty much bombproof with me, if mummy says it's ok it must be ok :D

Anyone got a mummy's girl?????

I have a mare & a gelding, the gelding is so vocal, playful, friendly, cuddly, wants to be with you / see what your doing, on the other hand my mare....

Could not give a rats arse if i'm there or not lol.....

I definitely have a Mummy's boy!! hehe!

... Aparently, he's in a terrible mood if i'm not there, and pulls faces at everyone!! :o I obviously don't believe this for one second ;)

But what is lovely is that every time I pull up to the yard (whether he's in, out, or eating), he Whinny's soooo loud for me, it's loverly!! Then we have a massive cuddle, he rubs hes head against my shoulder and all is right with the world! hehe!!

I love my boy!! :D

I most certainly do, Lewi is a mummy's boy but he can always be persuaded to ome round with Food. Max however.....He HATES my OH with a passion (he's jealous but he's no reason to be, he should know if ever it was a choice, he'd win hooves down), He's grumpy as anything when I'm not there, he won't go nicely for anyone else when ridden (I've even had a few previous instructors try and fail to get a tune out of him), he whinny's to me whenever he sees me, he snuggles up to me whenever he has the chance and he always looks after me, even when hes titting about with 2 feet on the ground and 2 in the air, he always makes sure Mummy is still on his back!

I was wondering the same. I own a mare and had two on loan before her. None of them are particularly affectionate.

def a mummys boy, runs to the gate when he see's me does this to no-one else no one has ever been to catch him apart from me, he just stands and waits i dont see the problem . I can do any thing and he will accept it though may throw a paddy with someone else. and follows me like a little lamb in or out the field, though did also follow the husband once but was also trying to bite him..

Mahogany bay: my mare Will whinny when she hears my car, and as soon as she hears my voice she is stood by the field gate. Not sure if id call her a mummys girl but she does love me :)

I have Mackapacker (I mean what the heck is all that about, where did that come from?) it does make you wonder what these horses turn us into :o

I do have a few other names I call him but I won't repeat them on here. :D

but I draw the line at mummy's little soldier, you've gone well past the point of no return! lol

Yep Bailey is a little mummy's boy! [well you'd expect him to be given he is now 4 and a half and I've had him since he was 5 months!]

It really annoys OH that Bailey changes so much when I'm around - he wants to be with me and be affectionate and have a cuddle whereas he gives OH the "OH it's you...sigh" treatment!

It is even to the point that if Bailey is scared of something, he will run behind me for "cover" ... thanks for that because as a 5'6 two legger I can really do something better about whatever the hell it is you've seen than a 16hh four legger...

I do, he's 32, if he can hear me chatting to someone in another stable block he calls me, its the tone he uses to tell me off makes me laugh !

He's a spoilt brat but I don't care, I want him to enjoy the time he has left, unfortunately he has to be muzzled when turned out, had lami few years back, I'd love to just let him have a lovely munch on the grass, he has adapted and doesn't seem to have a problem getting it throught he hole

i have both :o taz (mummy's boy) will neigh and wicker when in the field charge down when he heres the care turn up and stands there whinnying until i go down and give him a scratch and a fuss :) and he will kick the door until im talking to him and gets really arsey if i go and talk to missy :o

missy (mummy's girl) only whinnies some times and tends to stay away when i first come down the yard as taz chases her away (he's a jealous type, cant stand me talking to other people or horses) but after he has been in, been ridden etc and i put him in the field he wanders off. then she comes over and shoves her nose under my hand so i'll stroke her and will put her head in taz's head collar and will stand forever while i groom her loose in the field and she grooms me and plays with my hair shes very sweet but she potters off when taz comes over as he bites her if i talk to her instead of him :o

my lad is a mummy's boy through and through. He calls to me when he hears me come into the yard, comes trotting across the field to me when he sees me,won't let anyone else handle his legs or feet except the farrier and only if i am there. Will run around me in a circle and chase off any other horse that I intend to catch instead of him and then attack them if they do dare to get near me. He is a character through and through and I have even had total strangers come up to me and tell me that my horses love for me is so obvious.

my old boy used to see us coming then duck into his box and wait for us to call him :p
my current boy is a grumpy old man but he still follows me around the arena like a wee puppy :D
