one of mine has had 2 foals but ever since she has been back to work (a year now) she has had a problem with canter

4 days before her second foal was born she impailed herself on a gatepost and ripped a 10 inch gash in her left muscle on her bum (by her tail)

well ive had physio etc and she does get better but has not improved as much as i would of hoped

people that have horses who had KS - how did you find out or think your horse may have this??

Okay I can help you with this. There are quite a few symptoms to look out for and this isn't a comprehensive list by any means, nor does it mean that your horse absolutely has KS it if he has some or all of these symptoms but these are the most common symptoms from the research I have done:

Disunited canter or constantly switching hind legs on canter circle on lunge or whilst ridden i.e struggles to keep three beat canter
Girthiness - the strong dislike of being girthed up
Horse usually has a history of hind limb lameness problems - this does not necessarily have to be ligament problems.
The horse often bucks, rushes or rears.
The horse may start refusing to jump and resents being ridden in an outline.
The horse feels cold backed when mounted.
The horse's hind leg may 'stick' mid stride - giving the impression of stringhalt action although it clearly isn't stringhalt that it is suffering from.
Unpredictable behaviour

NOT ON LUNGE BUT WHEN RIDDEN SOMETIMES

NO AWFUL BUT SHE IS A MARE

NEVER BEEN LAME IVE OWNED HER 9 YEARS

The horse often bucks, rushes or rears.
THIS SHE DOES DO

The horse may start refusing to jump and resents being ridden in an outline.
NOT REFUSING TO JUMP BUT RUSHING A LOT AND SHE LOVES HER JUMPING

The horse feels cold backed when mounted.
SHE TENDS TO SPIN WHEN YOU GET ON

The horse's hind leg may 'stick' mid stride - giving the impression of stringhalt action although it clearly isn't stringhalt that it is suffering from.
NOPE NOT HAD THIS

Unpredictable behaviour

NOPE APART FROM NOT WANTING TO CANTER ON THE LEFT REIN SOMETIMES I WILL END UP IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION VERY QUICKLY !!

And to add to applecarts-

Very poor topline, with a prominent spine
Refusing to turn in circles, and napping when you ask for turn
Extreme Soreness over the back and hinquarters
And a flat backed jump, with dangling legs, no bascule.

SEE SHE DOES HAVE THIS

Refusing to turn in circles, and napping when you ask for turn
SHE DOES NOT LIKE TO BEND ON THE THE RIGHT REIN AT ALL

Extreme Soreness over the back and hinquarters
NOT ANYTHING AWFUL SHE IS MORE TIGHT THROUGH THE POLL

And a flat backed jump, with dangling legs, no bascule.
DEFINATELY NO DANGLY LEGS SHE IS CAREFUL AS A CAT BUT SHE DOES HAVE THE SAME JUMP AS BEFORE BUT THAT IS BECUASE SHE RUSHES - SHE STILL MAKES A DECENT SHAPE X
