Who has inspired you the most?

I loved Ian Stark! My husband delights in calling him the old silver fox, but he was an inspiration to me..The round of him on Murphy himself at the europeans when he bounced a two stride fence was simply amazing. Think he is just brilliant and a mainstay of the british team for so long.

Bar Hammond, I worked for her for nearly 2 years and she is a brilliant horsewoman. She got to the 1988 Olympics on a horse that had been written off and classed as unrideable.
She had represented GB in 2 world championships and 1 European in Eventing and 1 World and 2 European and the Olympics in dressage. She's been round Badminton 9 times.
She's never had really good expensive horses just broken one's that have 'jacked it in' with everyone else and she gets good results on them and they are happy.

She is the reason I love Dressage so much

I admire anyone at the top level who's worked damn hard for it and hasn't had it handed to them on a plate. Really admire Lucinda Fredericks for giving Brit a chance when no one believed in her and proving what a super little mare she is, and I love how she cleary adores Brit. Mary King because she's just a fantastic rider and always smiling, and Pippa Funnell for overcoming her xc nerves not giving up. John Whitaker for being one of the greatest riders of all time and getting a tune out of any horse.

Anyone who does top level puissance, those horses are amazing and so are the riders!!

Pippa funnel- She's done really well and totally deserves it, read her autobiography and really enjoyed it.

And I love this partnership, Adreas Helgstrand and Blue Hors Matine, that mare is 9 years old!!! And I've never seen a horse do something so remarkable! Here's the clip I'm refering to:

Worth watching all the way through...stunning.

And I think this girl is the most amazing rider I've ever seen. I don't know her name, but this video is amazing. It just puts my problems into prospective and gives you something to hope for when you see what she's done with these horses. Again worth watching all the way through:

I've seen this video so many times, but I never get tired of watching it.

I think it has to be Mark Todd on cross country and also SJ'ers like Markus Fuchs and Ludger Beerbaum alltogether their riding is a real inspiration and quite different to how other top sj'ers and eventers ride, its the fact that they can truely jump out of a rythym far better than most.

As for dressage the one person that has really inspired me as she is the only one Ive watched in the flesh- and that was pammy hutton on amanti. Saw them doing a dressage display Badminton one year. What amazed me was that she never moved one inch and just sat there so comfortably and relaxed while Amanti was the happiest and softest performer ever. They just seemed a real partnership.

Also Sorrell has inspired me loads with regards to teaching me clear distinctions between a horse that is physically strong and a horse that is weak and detecting and managing physical issues - these are the 'unseen' issues that many people just dont see or realise in their horses,Like horses that are only moving at a fraction of their full potential or backs that are not working properly. Seems common sense but you wouldnt believe how many professional horses are pretty buggered and the owners/vets dont realise how much they are compensating ( usually because of a bad saddle)! and I think that Sorrell has helped me develop just a little bit of an eye/awareness for that for which I will forever be grateful.

There's a few people in the horse world who have inspired me - some famous, some not.

But to be perfectly honest, the people who inspire me most are the 'ordinary' people on here doing the most amazing things with their horses.

I am 'inspired' by all of you to go out and compete and the best I can on my new horse - and be able to post the kind of reports and photos that all of you do.

I think you're all absolutely great!

I love Mark Todd for me he is one of the greatest horsemen but he has a talent that is so huge that I could never relate to it! Even if I rode 10 horses a day for the rest of my life and competed at the top I would not even have 1 inch of his ability and style. I have a friend who always wonders what Bahlua must have thought going from Mark Todd to Eddie Stibbe!
