Just wondering who has advertised and sold (or not) a horse in the past few months.

Please share.

How much did you advertise for? what did you actually get for horse??

What was it? Size? Age? Type?

advertised in nov/dec & didn't sell, so now starting to advertise again,
PC/RC, 6yr old, 15.3 I'm now asking £3000

everyone seems to want one 10+

I've sold two x 3 yo's - backed and riding quietly - in the last 3 months - one pure ID gelding and 1 sport horse filly. And I've got a keen potential buyer coming for 2nd viewing next week, plus another first timer looking for a JUST 3 year old (the others are now officially 4)

Sensible prices - not extortionate for what they were - but certainly would not be considered 'cheap' by the bargain hunters here!:D

my mare for sale week before christmas - had one viewing only - several phone calls with 'I will call you back to arrange a time' but they never do. :(

Really need to sell this mare but no idea how long it's going to take so am having YM from an equine college come and see her with plans to put her on full working livery with them. Needs must :(

I advertised Krypto in last week of September and he had been viewed, vetted and was in his new home on 1 October. First to see bought him and she is a fantastic owner and givees me updates :D

He is a 3 and a 1/2 year old IDx WB 16.2 Bay gelding. I needed to sell him anyway, but time became of the essence when found out was going to lose grazing, so advertised him for less than what would have done if time was on my side and he went for full asking price - not too cheap but I was realistic of what I needed to achieve and what the market was like.

I had so many phone calls about him after he went.

I sold a 16'3 ish 13y/o allrounder done pretty well at everything, skewbald, £3750 which I thought was fair due to age and would allow me to be fussy about the home he went to.
I honestly could have sold him several times over - lots of calls and lots of interest and it was 2-3 weeks before xmas, snowy, icy and horrid and still had loads of interest. I did end up selling to a friend.

Moody Mare - where are you in the country? Might be something I would like. Mine's off to the Vets on Monday (long story, don't ask) and assuming she's ok, she'll then be off to local trainer's yard to sell. As soon as she's sold, I'll be looking in earnest. I'm in Kent. PM me if you'd prefer. Sorry for hi-jacking OP a little.

Hi

I haven't advertised my horse for sale but somebody saw him and wanted to buy him. So i could of sold him, i won't say how much but it was over £10K. He's 15.2hh, 4 yr old chestnut gelding. Showjumping bred.

He'll never be for sale tho he's my little baby!! LOL!

The dealers yard I keep my horse at with has sold three of the five ponies they've had for sale since late autumn.

The first was a 9 year old, 10.2hh Welsh x Shetland pony palomino mare, ideal lead-rein or first pony, good in every way had done PC and mounted games with her previous owner for £900 with tack.

A 14 year old, 14.2hh, LW coloured cob gelding that hunts, would BSJA and is a safe hack for £2000.

& a 14hh, green 4 year old that hacks safely alone and in company. She is a bay New Forest cross mare for £1500.

But they haven't managed to sell the two grey 12.2hh PC ponies they had for sale, one is a mare who is 12 and happily jumps a course of 95cm, is a bombproof hack, well schooled and quiet enough for a novice. The other is a Welsh gelding who is ten and would make an ideal PC/2nd pony for a confident child or small adult. They were advertised for £1800 and £1200 or nearest offer.

They wont be re-advertising them and the Friesian mare they have ready to sale until the end of February as nothing much seems to be selling at the moment.

Ive had a 15.1hh 5yr old TB eventer advertised since Nov.
Have had joy riders, total timewasters and people who find themselves overhorsed when they get on her because they claimed to be more experienced than they are, when on the phone to me.

Have her up at 3k with full wardrobe as she is so wasted with us at the moment.

Im getting really fed up trying to sell her.:(

Nope not sold mine - see my post!

Only had rude timewasters so far and 2 cancellations.

I have a dressage/showing schoolmaster type. He also showjumps well. Hes coming up to 16 but very much a young horse and he is a TB but NOT typical and very good doer - onlyn on hifi an cool mix. gorgeous looking and good low level RC comp record. Looking for home for life where he can have fun and be loved. He is a people horse and loves attention. Only want £2000 inc tack n rugs. If i dont sell him now going to try again at the end of feb.

sold my boy for the asking price without even advertising. Girl that was riding happen to say to someone she was speaking to whilst out hacking, that he was for sale. 2 days later a friend of hers phoned came and tried him the next day. Pick him on that afternoon and that was him gone and he could not of found a better home.

I bought one in November through word of mouth he wasn't advertised anywhere.

He's a 14.2 TB 12yo. When I was looking I wanted something not TB and younger (6 or under) but Andy was perfect so I'm not complaining :)

we sold a very expensive jumping/eventing pony within two weeks...and brought a 148 off a local dealer who sells nice mid priced horses and ponies...he is still selling a few a week but there are all lovely animals
do know some people really having problems...we were luckly as our was worth his weight in gold

I sold a well bred and well put together 2 year old dutch warmblood at the beginning of December.
I had quite a lot of interest but ended up selling her to a friend for less than I'd have got on the open market as I knew she'd take good care of her and it meant her not moving, she's still in the same paddock as 2 of my other horses.

I think I had plenty of interest as she was advertised at a realistic sellable price of 2200, which was much lower than equal quality youngsters from the breeder she came from.

There are buyers out there, but people are unrealistic where price is concerned, its unfortunately a buyers market at present x

I sold one of my 148 jumping ponies, still have two more to sell as we are off ponies and onto horses now. Bought a new horse as well.
