Who has owned their horse for longer than any relationship???

Not longer than OH as we have been together nearly 38 years married for 37 of them so it would be a very old pony however I have had my highland since she was 18 months old and she is 18 now Have been with a lovelyy old mare although I dont own her now since she was 10 months and she is 28 this year I sold her to a friend when she was about 8 years old but we have been best friends since then
 
I not only had my last horse longer than my relationship with my OH but we were together much longer than I had a relationship with my father or lived at home with my family.
He's gone now but my OH says he doesn't like to bring up his name and feels like the horse was an ex-husband :o
 
I had my Welsh D when I met my husband when I was 17. The horse was PTS when I was 18. My husband (then boyfriend) didn't like the horse and the feeling was mutual lol

I tell my husband at least once a week that if the horse had lived longer the chances are we wouldn't be together!
 
There's a worrying pattern here.

I've had the horse 14 years and been with OH for 4.

Needless to say, the horse has seen off a few ex boyfriends (cried into her mane for the useless b**ers). The longest, prior to my husband, lasted for about a year and half.
 
Had mine 15 years (since she was 5 months old) and had lasted longer than any bloke (longest being 12 years)
my mum had hers for 28 years!... bought her as a 3 year old and had her PTS 18 months ago :-(
 
I've had Pie for 11 years and hubby for 3 and a half years. Pie got to put his hoof print of approval on hubby (he's a great judge iof character and I've learned over the years that if Pie doesn't take to someone there's usually a reason! Luckily when introduced to hubby he nuzzled him rather than being cross / worried by him!)
 
I got my first horse at 15. I stupidly sold him when I was 18. I always regretted it. When I was 20 he came back up for sale but I couldn't afford him (3 times the price I sold him for) so I was devastated. My very new boyfriend at the time didn't want to see me so upset so he got out a loan for me to buy him back! So 13 years later we are all still a happy family (with a few additions!)
 
I had Ozzie for six years, and the boyfriend at the time was jealous. But he was a boring old fart so I didn't take it to heart! :D

I've had Pip about the same length of time that I've been with my OH, about two years, and OH really loves him and seems to think he's just an over-sized dog :p
 
Had one of my boys 10yrs now, been with hubby for 6yrs.
Horses will always come before men for me, they don't annoy me as much! Lol
 
Thank you for all your lovely replies, now I just need to get a horse rather than a boyfriend because it seems easier to have a longterm relationship with a horse rather than a man, now all we need to do is train our horses to put the rubbish out and men could become obsolete!!!!! :O
 
I have owned my New Forest pony for 33years,i was 12 when i got him and have just had my 45th birthday!I have been with my partner for 12years and although not particularly horsey he helps care for William and is quietly fond of him(though would never admit to it).
 
No but ....
had Tommi for the last 5 years of my marriages (of 18yrs) then had to let him go at divorce ....
New OH tracked him down and bought him back for me .....
Ahhh
 
I had my old boy 23 years, he died on Olympics xc day last year at 29. Met hubby the month before Arthur. Hubby now managed an extra year as he is still breathing! Now struggle to remember how long we have been together as I worked it out from Arthur's age. Hubby always knew he was second to horse!
 
My haffy I have owned for 7 & half years & been with my OH nearly 7yrs :).

My OH isn't interested at all in the horses, but is not jealous or anything as he knows it's what I do & enjoy, oh & he knows if there was a problem it would be him out the door ;)
 
Old mare owned for 16yrs so far, grey boy owned for 10.5yrs so far... :D

Longest relationship I've had so far is 5yrs, current OH is of 16 months and hopefully will be for many more :)
