mine are out at the mo but come in when the rain gets really bad, they are in summer turn outs but when the temp dropped last week i changed to winter ones! the weather is so annoying at the mo, cant make a good decision whatever!!!
I do (although I dither daily about what to do with him...) - he hasn't got a rug on today, but has been wearing a lightweight turnout rug (no fill at all) up until now. He has several trees to stand under when it rains, and he seems to be doing really well
All of mine are out 24/7 atm the boys have LW's on, as they have moved out of the field with the shelter and I believe B has a LW on as well, as she has been a little under the weather.
I do!!...............shes at stud though!! i sent her up with both a lightweight and a mediumweight rug but god knows what she's wearin as shes about 60/70 miles away!!!
Yes but he has 24/7 access to his field stable so can come and go as he wants. I look at the weather forecast for each day for rugging...sometimes it is too warm, others he has had his medium weight on!!!
mine are both in, and wearing MW rugs at night and fleecy rugs during the day. When they are turnedout they are either wearing their LW turnouts or MW turnouts with hoods depending on the weather.
Mine are out 24/7, summer turnouts on when I'm not about. Today is quite warm so have taken rugs off for a while. They came in for one night last week when we had really bad storm. They do have a field shelter but Murph doesn't do sharing! Fields is getting more and more water logged though so may have to start bringing them in just to give field and their feet chance to dry.
Thumper is out 24/7. I would actually like to have him in in the day - but he's not a happy bunny on his own, which he would be for half the day anyway. He's fine ridden from the field so it's no biggy. And it has been better for him really to get some good grass in to him, and to really settle in to the bunch of other horses.
He's not rugged at the moment as I am still waiting for my bloomin LW Mark Todd rug to be delivered
Out 24/7 and in only a sweet itch rug. He only gets a turnout rug on if he comes in shivvering, and his field has barely any shelter.
Yes it is wet, but it isn't cold at the moment. To rug my native up when it is reasonably warm wouldn't be fair on him, he would end up soaked anyway, but with sweat rather than rainwater!!
Two of mine, both Dutch WBx TB, one 17yrs and one yearling are both out 24/7 unrugged.
They have some shelter from a thick hedge and overhanging tree.
Despite the wet they are both fine.
Mine are out 24/7 and naked. The TB had to be in for a week due to an injury (not the weather) but now the dressings are off she is out. The weather is so changeable I would worry too much about overheating them. The other day the littles looked a bit cold so gave them extra hay.
All 3 are out with no rugs as despite rain its warm and id have to spend all day with them to keep up wit the weather. They all graze in field in torrential rain and have shelter from rees but the grass is too much temptation.
My general rule is no rug unless below 10 degrees and rain never hurt anyone!!
mine is out 24/7 naked. its hard to rug as if the sun comes out its 20 degress outside again...... he has come in once - when the rain was torrential and there was all the flooding. He has a nice big tree in his paddock and stands under that when its raining hard.
Only one has a rug, and is actually currently wearing 3 - sweetitch rug, fly rug and finally a lightweight rain sheet and neck (probably boiling today). However he gets wet and miserable without the rugs and is used to being well rugged up.
Mine live out all year round (rain, snow, sun, more rain) the ponies never wear rugs but my ISH and by TB are both wearing lightweights at night at the moment.
All ours are out 24/7 with no rugs.... well Holly has a fly/sweet itch rug on but don't think that really counts! Even babies are out 24/7 with their mums they all seem fine!
