my friend C has a got a pony on loan from another friend S, basically S paid £1800 for a 8yr old NF 13.2 ''competition pony'' for her 9yr old daughter who's a nervous wreck on anything bigger than 11.2? she has gone from her 11hh ''showpony'' to this mare,
when S bought the mare last summer she was bossy as her last owners were scared of her! when S had her she was too dangerous to put anyone un-experienced on, i didnt mind riding her, she napped everywhere, reared and bucked. she was quite moody in the stable but never raised a foot, she always had a sharp look in her eye, S is about size 14 and about 5'7ish, and she used to ride her as daughter was pettrified and dont blame her!! one day all 3 of us hacked out, i was on bear C was on Ted and S was on mare and the mare decided to nap and canter backards in reverse (did this regularly!) so S had 2 whips, one on each side and just beat her till she walked on, they must have been battling for 10mins!! by this point bear and Ted were crapping it!!!
Anyway S bought an unbroken pony last sept, i backed it and she gave it to C's daughter whos 11 to ride on and do winter jumping on, she did a fab job with her and she was so sweet and quiet and a real 'novice' ride as she's 9,
back in april/may time S convinced C that the nutty mare will be ideal for her daughter and took quiet 1 back for her daughter!! S lives 2 mins up the road from C.
the nutty 1 is now an angel, never naps/bucks/rears, really cuddly and loves attention, and the original quiet 1 has started bucking!! and she's gone really shy in the stable!
we all went to hunter trials on sunday and poppet the original nutty 1 has got a little nick on her flank and S noticed it and had the cheek to say to C 'you better insure that mare cos i dont want her coming back to me worthless!!' what a horrible thing to say to someone that has given the once 'dangerous' pony a good name!
they havent got a loan agreement, S wants her back next year so she can sell her for 3K, she's very manipulative as she makes you think she's doing you a favour but she's not!!
ive told C do not take her to the indoor jumping season as its only bumping her price up.
should my friend insure this mare or leave it for S to do?
S is an AI belive it or not!! ive started to see her true colours over the last few months as when C had Xena the cute quiet 1 she was a moggy pony but now S has got her she's a connemara X!!!!!!
i just feel she's taking advantage of C's good nature, i keep telling C to give her back as they have a got a 14hh welsh D that her girl can bring on. please can anyone give me advice on any of the subjects so i can bang it in to C's head! she wants to ask S if she'll sell poppet to her for £1800 but i know she wouldnt do it, no matter what a good friend she's only out for the money!!!
sorry for the rant!! dont think i missed any thing out!!
heres a pic of poppet and C's daughter, this was the 1st time she rode her and it was a hired out XC course!
and here's S's daughter on Xena
