i am watching it, as upsetting as it was seeing the horse slaughter, it is another way of life, and horses are more than just pest, they are a food source and i am no bunny hugger, i whole heartedly agree to their right to use their horses for food after they become viable.
I have read about last week's program, its barbaric!! Really upset me. Thank goodness I didn't see it. There is no way I am watching a TV program that can show such inhumane scenes. After all, if we watch it, more viewers, higher call for the program.
I say boycott it..............

I will certainly be watching. Theres no way any of us can have an informed debate or make any sort of judgement without actually seeing the thing!
As far as Im concerned any of the posts we had about last weeks programme from people who didnt actually watch it but are just going on hysterical heresay are not worth reading.
Im hoping for some rather inspiring dressage moves!

A bit odd to comment on something you didn't see. The part you mention was only a small bit of what was actually a very interesting programme which gave a great insight into - believe it or not - how well the Horses were cared for .
I'll be watching tonight, thought last week's programme was interesting and informative.
Tonight's will hopefully be good too. I don't know if this still happens but, years ago they used to remove/damage the vocal chords of the horses used for bull fighting!!! Be prepared to maybe see some things you don't like!!!
Nope, am not watching - on BBC1 for some light-hearted drama instead!! I know myself too well and am glad I did not watch last weeks programme. Images tend to stay with me and bull fighting is not one i want - I still have the images from what we watched when I was learning spanish and it was part of 'learning the culture'.
Nope, not for me. I am sure the dressage bit will be great, I just would prefer that was more what the programme was about - ie the grace and intelligence of horses and their relationship with humans etc rather than feeling the need to show how horrid humans can be to animals to be honest.
Each to their own I guess, I just don't like to be reminded of what torture some animals have to go through because of us.
I have just read that the BBC has had heaps of complaints about last weeks programme, and I'm guessing that they are going to have a few after this week's.
I found both episodes really interesting, no I didn't enjoy the bit where the mare was killed and I did wonder why they didn't use a gun, which would have been a lot easier - on their behalf.
Anyway this is where I would like to start saying that as long as it was carried out correctly I would have no problem in eating horse meat, and in fact I believe that it would sort out the UK's problem of being over populated with poor quality horses. However I won't, I'll leave that for another time.
I would like to say that as a horse owner and lover I will be watching the full series because I believe that we should never stop learning and we can learn a lot from other cultures, I also believe that it is best to keep an open mind on such matters and not jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts. I wonder if any of the people that complained have ever lived in them conditions. Oh and one more point, did it not also occur to these people that if those horses were not used for meat they would probably not be there, as the men did have to feed the horses every day, so the horses could survive and stay healthy......................
