Hot on the heels of Girlracers lovely pictures of Major with no bridle, I had my mum down today to take some pictures of the black pony and how blimmin awesome he is being at the moment. I'm afraid there are rather a lot but thought you might like them.

It was not a promising start...pretty sure I don't wanna get on this!:

Even my motorbike doesn't lean in like this:

15 minutes of zooming and hoolie-ing later, I braved getting on board...with some tack (and his garrocha pole):

Then the reins came off:

Popping a skinny (only ever jumped this once before):

Then we went all out (or all off!)

Three loop serpentines in canter with changes through walk...no problem!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be riding my pony bareback, with no bridle, let alone over fences, or in canter. He is still a hot little horse and not to be taken for granted (can only do a few bits and then he revs up and im not a talented enough rider to cope with that without tack!) but he is an absolute joy to be around. makes me smile so much!

Wow what a stunner. How much for that pony lol!? He is my cup of tea :) I feel inspired to try this on my black pony but fear for my life..

I fear for my life some of the time too (I definitely did a strategic dismount today at the point where I felt he was losing interest in behaving!). He is most definitely priceless!

Well done you.
I can see a lot of people wanting to try this out.
Watch this space.

Hopefully people won't think I saw girlracers post yesterday and just whipped the bridle off today! We have been doing plenty of work towards this over the summer. He has been on limited work since June due to liver issues so I have been finding ways to entertain the pair of us that don't put a lot of stress on him but keep him busy. I do enjoy it...in the confines of an arena. I'm not talented enough to head out into the wilds of my field. But the bitless work certainly seems nicer through the winter than his icy cold bit!

Lovely pony, Inspired by yesterdays thread I went for a hack today with full bridle on (just in case) and extra reins attached to the noseband. Mostly my lad was fine, trot was a little speedy and a canter...not to bad. Then we got to his 'canter patch', haha, whooosh, as expected, he was gone and no amount of gentle persuasion was going to stop him, had to laugh at him, silly moo just loves to gallop, he will stop when asked but I did have to pick up his proper bridle first! Certainly going bridleless looks a way away yet.....:)

Just 14hh. He is definitely a dude. I'll post some more pics of his shenanigans tomorrow. He has too much personality to fit into one thread!

8) thanks!

Elvis, his next blood test is tomorrow, keeping fingers crossed. Am having to work him as he is utterly doolally with even a day off at the moment (as demonstrated in first few photos!)

Fingers crossed for you. Do let us know the results. I still get Elvis' bloods done every couple of months just in case. It really is a worry. Have you made any changes to forage or management?

I will do, thank you. He is on different hay and although on same yard is not on the same field and is stabled at night. We will see if more change is required. I'll keep you posted!
