A friend and I have been trying for ages to remember the name of this rider with no luck. It's starting to get frustrating because I can't remember for the life of me LOL.
umm, the colours are right, but it definitely doesn't look like either of them facially, imho! which year was this please, was it this year (i didn't think the numbers went as high as 70 this year...)
Know what you mean K - but i am so old that it maybe looks like Bruce back many years ago?!!! ~But then I am probably talking about before it was the 'Rolex' Kentucky !!!! Don't know when that sponsorship began, but I was at the World Championships in Kentucky (Think it was the first time it was 4*) ...........in 1978!!!! (The year Bruce won with Might Tango - who was only a 7yr old and who never really recovered after running in temperatures of over 104degrees F)
Well I would have said Buck Davidson, not enough wrinkles for Bruce I went on to the Kentucky website to look at numbers, yes I am that sad!! it didn't enlighten me though
It's Boyd Martin on Rock on Rose in 2010. That took me a bit of sleuthing! Rolex 2010 Pictures. Strange how he rides in the same colours as Bruce/Buck.
I guess the work I'm supposed to be doing isn't holding my attention so much today!
Those are the Davidson's colors because the mare, Rock On Rose, was owned by Bruce at the time. Boyd thought it was appropriate to represent the farm that owned her and donned their colors instead of his usual blue and white.
The colours came down from, I think, Bruce's mother-in-law (maybe his mother, but I don't think so) so they're "family" colours dating from when they used to do a lot of breeding and chasing/timber racing (the scary American version of pointing/chasing, over post and rail fences).
