Who is your favourite racehorse of all time?

I always liked Lammtarra too, mainly because he was so beautiful. ;)

Really, really beautiful.

Right now, Mull Of Killough. He just won the Group 3 Darley stakes at Newmarket. Myself and my husband purchased him privately at the Tatts Ireland yearling sales for the massive sum of €2500. Congrats to his connections.

Terri

I remember as a teenager we waited all morning to see Red Rums Horsebox go through Hoddesdon....he was so famous. The sad one if there was one was Shergar? I always thought that was sad.
But Rummy an utter star.

Mine :D Hektikos by Hector Protector (pic below) and High Rise cos he won me a shedload of money at the Derby in '98

Lochsong, Persian Punch, Dubai Millennium, Singspiel, Soviet Song One Man, Cool Roxy, Best Mate, Kauto Star, the list is endless - I love them all!

My father in law is in the syndicate that "owns" Soviet Song, I am sure she must have some progeny in training by now, haven't spoken to him about it for a while

Before my time, but Secretariat.

Yep...this is the horse I You Tube the most, his Belmont Stakes was unbelievable.

Most of my faves have already been mentioned a number of times but does anyone remember Special Cargo's Whitbred? Going back I think to 1981 but still brings a lump to my throat whenever I dig out the VHS :)

As does Persian Punch winning the Jockey Club Stakes. Loved that horse.

Dublin Flyer and Fondmort and King Coal - could have watched them jump all day........ (have a look on youtube for Dublin Flyer, it's worth a watch!)

Always adored Knowhere and Istabraq was pure class.

My list is too long and I've loved thinking about all the great horses mentioned!

I was fortunate to see Soviet Song at Kirklington Stud in April this year. She has only had one foal. She has proved impossible to get in foal in this country and I believe she is currently in America with specialist reproduction vets.

Dessie!
I remember when I was younger being horse obsessed, dessie was "my" racehorse and although I was too young to actually see him race , I had a photo of him on my wall and loved hearing about him. I always wanted to meet him but never got to - my dad did a few times though, I did once get to talk to dessie over the phone ;) There was something very special about dessie, such determination and such a gorgeous boy.

I've mentioned this before, but I've seen Bill Nack, the racing writer who wrote the book about Secretariat (and Ruffian), do a talk about the horse and during it he talks through each Triple Crown race and then shows them on a big screen, the whole auditorium was drumming their feet on the ground, yelling at the screen and every race finished with a standing ovation...even though we all knew he was going to win. Just thrilling to watch.

And I forgot Silver By Nature! Oh I'm a bad fan :( he's a horse for a bog, if there's a wet National next April, he's the horse for the job!

You'll see him back on the track, hopefully he gets his Haydock bog again but he won't be taking on the Aintree fences again in his lifetime. He got round once and he is far, far too precious to his owner/breeder to chance it a second time. Welsh, Scottish and Irish Nationals I think will be on his agenda if the ground is soft.

As to my favourites - Flat - Galileo, Ouija Board, Snow Fairy, Makybe Diva. All for various reasons but mostly because there were/are fighters!

National Hunt - One Man, Red Rum, Istabraq- all for their longevity at the very top. And Like A Butterfly for being the only horse to have ever won a Champion Bumper, Champion Hurdle AND Champio Chase in their careers - and she is a mare to boot!

Bloodstock - Urban Sea - she produced Galileo, Sea The Stars, Black Sam Bellamy amongst others. All of her progreny have black type to their name.

Galileo - He is rocking the sires lists at the moment! 9 of the top 10 highest prices made a the yearling sales this week were by him. He is becoming a worthy successor to his father - the late, great Sadler's Wells.

And Sadler's Wells is of course my final choice. He started my love affair with the bloodstock side of racing. He is a Champion Sire and a Sire of Sires. He leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to beat and never bettered.

A favourite of mine is red maurauder, who won the grand national in the most horrific of conditions.
Also baracouda ( French hurdler), new approach, sea the stars, borderlescott, mill reef and garde champetre.
