who keeps there horses out 24/7?

In the many years I have kept horses I have never kept any stabled summer or winter. The exception being very rare times when they may have been stabled short-term for medical reasons.

Yep. PBA and pure bred arab mare out, only stabling if the ground needs a break or for injury. Both thrive so I will continue as long as I can.

Mine are out 24/7. Im not over keen on stabling, personal preference I suppose. The horses seem to do well living out with plenty of space and shelter. As long as they are fed correctly throughout the winter we dont have weight loss issues and they are rugged. I think they are less prone to colic etc too.

I have a stable block which hardly ever gets used. There are over 50 horses on my farm and all of them live out 24/7/365. All fields have good natural shelter and big barns/field shelters. My fields are all good sized pasture fields with loads of grazing, however I still adlib hay all year round because the horses like their hay.
