Im after a deep turnout rug for my mare who is incredibly broad, having no luck finding anything Can anyone recommend any that are made deeper than normal? Please!!!
Horseware Rambo and Fal rugs seem to come up nice and deep, Fal can also do an extra deep version (well they did 10 years ago!!!) if she is really that wide
My Premier Equine rug just about comes down to my mare's knees!
It's a lovely rug too, one of the ones with removable liners. I haven't used anything else so far this year!
I have a Bridleway rug for my cob mare and it fits her lovely. Nice and deep with shoulder gussets. A lovely made rug for not a huge amount of money. x
what i sued to do when the canvas rugs were the main rugs you can buy , was buy a cr4p one cut the bottom off the length of the rug and sew it too my mares rugs. she looked like a hover craft when the wind up but the rug went half way down her cannon and shannon bone.
Nope AMIGO XL are the best by a mile having tried everything - These are cut extremely generously and are by far the best on 17hh mares heavy in foal so nearly as wide as they are tall!!!!
This year's Amigo med weight t/o is much deeper than older models and almost covers under my chunky cob's belly. I L-U-R-V-E the Amigo chest do-ups which are the same as the normal belly straps. So very much easier to deal with when you're soaking wet and frozen stiff and you no longer have any feeling in your fingers!
Ruggles horse rugs!! their turnout rugs are really deep and are a brilliant fit. My friend has a highland and she has a lightweight form ruggles and it fits her lovely. The best part is their prices are brilliant!! i got a heavyweight combo last year for £59!! hope this helps xx
I have just bought a pro-tuff rug which I am really pleased with, nice and deep and not expensive. This is to replace the Amigo that was like a mini skirt on my youngster!!
Premier equine are certainly deep enough and are fairly generous in the shoulder but doesn't fit my girl round the neck very well and tbh I would have taken it back if it came from the local tack shop. If your horse has a 'normal' neck not a chunky one these are good.
Last years rugs aren't fitting very well. Her Rambo Duo is like a mini skirt and so are her Mark Todd stable rugs which all fit very well last year even tho she was fatter then She is now down to a 1200D Amigo with a chest expander. I'm debating ordering from the big horse shop and hope and pray they fit!
My 15.3 cob mare is much as you describe. I always have Mark Todds, as they are deep (to her knees) and have a generous pleat in the shoulders. They sit well and never need adjusting.
My cob mare is really chunky, built like a tank and has always needed a 6'6" rug, despite only being 15hh. I bought a 6'6" Premier Equine Buster Trio 2 years ago. When I put it on, it fit beautifully, except for the depth! It came past her knees and hocks and I was concerned that she might get caught up in it. Two years on, I have to say it's the best rug I've ever had! It never moves on her and she is a vigorous roller! Now that my youngster has finished growing I will get one for her, too. The liners fit in the average washing machine and dry quickly, the rug is well made, great clips, Hi Viz strips, big tail guard, high denier (1650) so hard to tear, I love the way the hood velcros on and has elastic around the top, no more gaps for the wind to blow in!
Best time to buy is Spring, when the sale prices get you a super rug for a much cheaper price.
In case anyone is wondering - I don't work for them! Just love their rugs xx
Love the premier equine, very robust. Only minor fault is they don't have 2 leg straps, only one strap across the back. Last winter, when it was very windy, my mare got hers off - inside out. She must have taken it off like a jumper.
Well,I'm not adding anything new here but... Premier Equine And I've got Rambos,Amigos,Rhinos,Fals,Wbeetas&a couple of odds and sods but nothing is as deep as the PE.
