When my boy was on box rest i mucked out twice a day, but in the day he only had a sprinkling to soak up anything so just a case of sweeping it out real quickly and putting a new bed back down
I would muck out twice a day, I work 9-5.30 so would muck out before and after work. Her bed would be ruined if I left it all day, its not very nice for them to be standing in their poop all day as well.
Muck out in the morning, she is then out until 5ish. I then go out there again 9pm ish to skip out as it makes the morning muck out MUCH easier and keeps the bed cleaner
Yep if in all day will muck out properly at least twice & skip out any muck that's done after mucking out but before I leave yard if that makes sense?!
Mine are out all day so just mucked out in the morning but I would pick up any poo thats done after they come in if im still at the yard. At uni the are in 24/7 so we do a full muck out in the morning then they get skipped out at the end of the day but when they are ridden the riders must skip out if any poo
When ours are in all day, we muck out morning and late afternoon....not only is it nicer for the horses, but it keeps rugs cleaner and I couldnt face going down yard and facing 24hours worth of S**t!!
When mine has been on box rest then i muck out in the morning and skip out at about 6pm. He's quite messy when in all day. I couldn't face mucking out at 10pm like some people have said they do though!
If any of the horses where I work are in all day, they're mucked out in the morning, have a little sprinkling of a day-bed down and then skipped out as needed throughout the day, then have a proper bed put down at about 4/5ish. They're skipped out again when feeds are done at about 6.
i take wet and poo out every time i skip out, i'm very fussy and like beds to stay immaculate. i do them at 8am, 12ish, 5 ish and 10pm ish, and in between those if i'm on the yard.
If they are in all day, I muck out properly twice, and skip out at late feed.
If they are out all day (which thankfully is getting more often) then I do a full muck out in the morning, then leave the bed up, put it down when bringing them in and a skip out at late feed.
Full muck out in morning, skip out in afternoon when they're in. When they're out during the day, full muck out at some point while they're out (depending on how tired i am
haha) and thats it til they go out again. Our gelding is v mucky so we dont put much down and just sweep out everything, mare is very neat xxxx
With my old loan pony, he was mucked out properly every day when he went out in the field, and skipped out once a day to help keep it clean (luckily he wasn't a stable trasher!) then once every couple of months or so his full owner would take out all the bedding and scrub it down. x
WOW people on here have far too much time on their hands ;-) Anyone want to do mine too?? Mine are on rubber matting & deep littered shavings - all poo took out in morning, fresh bedding added on top if out all day but if spend a day in I would skip out in the evening again! Beds are good, horses are happy, I have time to do more fun things
