Who of you would buy this lovely lad?

I would want a good look at that scar-goes across some major muscle groups but he's nice enough for the price I guess-not keen on his rump, screams hock problems and wouldn't be worth £2K without scar. Really like the 'flashy' coloured 4yo >> though, she's pretty smart.

That must have been one heck of an injury  he's not my type and I also think 3000 is ludicrous in the current market (or maybe before!) but if it w just aesthetic it wouldn't bother me.

Very true and the fold of skin at the top of the scar indicates that it wasn't an easy suture. I didn't pay a penny for Peggy and that was some years ago. I still like him though !

OP not read all replies but wouldn't put me off. That scar looks like a one off freak job to me and superficial. Anyone who can tell his hock conformation is off from that picture is simply going on his type and expecting him to be so, as from what you can see of the hock there is little evidence, a nice long thigh can be seen though. Alert, interested, kind, and possibly very pretty face as nothing would look good in a rope halter placed where it is. Prob also got breeding in it and being passed on cheap cos of scar so you could have something nice.

At that price definitely worth a punt, based on what you want/can do etc. (really haven't read thread sorry it's too long now!!)

In plain English you are saying 'take a chance'. Why has it 'prob got breeding in it?'. Your garbled message about conformation I have still to fathom, so will decipher that one tomorrow.

I think he looks like a nice little chap, and the scar wouldn't bother me if the price was right... And if he is of sound mind and body! Sadly there are lot of pretty alright and unscarred horses about for not much more money

I agree that 2-3k is absurd though!

Bless him, hopefully he has a nice sensible temperament and will find someone who is not bothered about it.

I would not as having bought a horse with chest scarring that was attributed to barbed wire injury I later discovered he had got out of his field as a 2/3 year old and been hit by a car as I discovered 6 months later when I took him in for a lameness work-up and the vet nurse said "Isn't he the one who got hit by a car?".

Although he passed a 5-stage vetting by a reputable vet how in retrospect I do not know (long story) he was diagnosed with Wobblers - caused by compression of the neck vertebrae probably attributable to the impact. After 2 years of trying every therapy available he was PTS at 8 years. I was devastated :(
