It seems rare now to not have a rug with a neck! was wondering if anyone else was the same! Pickle doesn't have one rug with a neck stable/turnout. He is the only one on the yard (yard of 40+ horses)

So poll below

I have every rug of every description

All of the TO rugs have a neck though I prefer detachable necks. He's currently out in his LW Amigo TO with full neck (detachable) as when I brought him in yesterday he was shivering and tucked up. The LW/spring/autumn TO rugs all have detachable necks so that I can take them off in good weather, but the winter TO are all either half or full neck rugs.

Stable rugs...most have no neck but I layer them and have a MW full neck that goes on top if it's cold enough to warrant him having a neck.

I only like attached necks if they're heavy winter rugs, don't like it for LWs.

I hate neck rugs and don't own any. I don't clip my horse; if I did it would probably be different.

I dont know why we have them with necks tbh! we never had the option of rugs with necks a few years back (well, ok, slightly more than a few years!) I have to say I have lots of full neck rugs and use them but I'm not really sure why, my horses survived fine without them before!

I have 2 HW turnouts with necks. I don't use them that often as they rub my mares mane. I prefer to use normal rugs and add a neck cover if needed.

ETS: Hattie's sun rug has a neck as that is were she burns.

is it bad that mine is clipped (not currently its grown back!) but he still doesn't have a neck rug. He is always snug though, think it makes him hardier

Pip doesn't have necks on his rugs, although has one with a fixed neck MW turnout for if he was fully clipped. The hogged boys had fixed necks for stable and turnout, and they havn;t had new ones,.

My elderly forest mare and my old arab x gelding have rugs with necks, but my arab mare doesn't, because she is shown and they would ruin her lovely long mane, so she doesn't own any and won't while she is shown.

My mare has LOTS and LOTS of rugs. My filly doesn't have any with necks - she had a half neck but shes out grown it.

Non of my rugs have necks, all of my rugs are no-fill summer turnout rugs. (They wear them in winter)

I one light wt stable rug that has a detachable neck, I dont use it often as I find it ruins the mane. All my turnouts have the same option, but I rarely use them. Seen some really bad manes this year, I think people leave them on too long

All of my rugs have detachable necks (all PE) but i'm thinking about either stopping using the neck coversor getting a wug style rug for next winter as my 4yo is scared of the velcro being undone around his neck! He is genuinely terrified, whites of eyes, mini rears etc. Drama drama

i would never, ever, use a full neck T/O on my sec D, his last owner did and it wrecked his mane....

I have rugs with necks, and some high neck, and some standard (I am a rugaholic).

Tbh, my three wore 'combos' for most of the winter (they live out), and I didn't find their manes got rubbed at all.
Now, however, they have been in standard shaped LW turnouts, and fly rugs, they have been cheerfully pulling out each other's hair while mutually grooming.
Ah, well, I'd rather have a happy horse with a social life and no mane, than a miserable one with flowing locks.

Only one TO rug has a neck and that's for the old arab mare who feels the chill a bit. Everything else roughs it in plain old MWs, they manage quite happily but we don't get incessant rain for day upon depressing day. In Wales my arab had rugs with integral necks because it seemed to rain all the time and he was clipped out.

I don't possess a stable rug at all.

I've got loads without a neck on, unless its super dooper cold or if my horse was clipped then its rare I use them, do have a few but I don't purposely buy them because they have a neck on.

Me. No necks for us - wrecks Star's mane...... However, I do use a Snuggy hood in winter when a bit of extra insulation is needed eg icy rain with wind, temperatures below zero etc.
