Also in New Lounge...
A while ago I posted about surface preferences.. particularly products which you can use to stabilise surfaces... Some of you very kindly pm'd me but when the system changed over, I lost all my pms and now don't have the information I need...

Please could you recommend - either on here or pm me with suggestions of such products - It's to be mixed with a pvc granule base.
Thanks

We had a new arena put in Feb this year and it was sand, rubber and fibre but we are really having problems with it riding too deep. After approx 6 horses on it we have level and roll and are having real problems trying to get it sorted out.
Be interested in hearing some replies.

Don't expect its what your looking for.....
We used to have just sand which became very deep when dry and too firm when wet. We are very exposed so weren't surprised when it blew away!
We now have flexi-ride which I beleive Lucinda Green uses. Can't recommend it enough, it goes on top of anything and never needs harrowing.
Might be worth looking at.

Some sort of fibres (ie strips of chopped up membrane and other industry waste/off-cuts) seem to be the recommended remedy for surfaces riding deep. If you analyse the surface you have (granules and presumably sand?) you have a rolling mix. If you can get some longer fibres thoroughly mixed in, it might bind the whole thing into a much more stable product.

Try giving AndrewsBowen a call. They are very local to me and do as many of the top venue surfaces as the others. They do stabilisers and will probably have something. Ask for a sample or send one to them and they'yy probably have a suggestion or two. Good luck. Our surface is absolutely brilliant, so I know you can get one.
