who rides a big horsey here? :D

This is George (on the left) He's 16.2 and quite a large boned TB so people tend to think he's bigger. I'm 5ft 4 and I remember almost not taking him because I thought he might be too big lol. (His friend on the right, Rocky is 16.1 and a finer built TB)
 
The horse I share is 17hh, I'm 5'8 and I love riding a big horse, I feel safer! Sadly he's torn his collateral ligament so is out for 6 months or so but once he's better I hope to be riding him again.

phoar binky there big!!! your 'baby' would dwarf mine XD. Im with clique on the pound thing, actually i would get off for a sweet if it was wrapped!! Even when im with riders who ride smaller horses im always the one getting off cause im the only one who can get back on from ground!
 
Im riding a 18.1hh ID and meant to be jumping on Monday keep thinking how far down the ground is.

I am also getting a 17.3hh IDx fit for hunting again a long way down and a very big jump from my 15.3hh Cob and 14.1hh Welsh Girly :D

Strange I love riding the two boys but I dont think I would ever want own a horse that big.
 
My old lad is a 17.3 Westphalian. I'm 5ft2. TBH I feel safer on him bareback and headcollar than I do on any of the others tacked up! :D Sadly he's 27 now so retired. :( But he's still a happy bunny, even the stallion youngster doesn't challenge him! LOL
 
Used to ride an 18.2hh the term BFG really was coined for him but thankfully never had to find out what it would feel like to meet the ground unplanned from him. Now have a much more sensible sized 16.3hh, oh and I'm 5'6.
 
I rode this big tank for a friend - he was a bundle of fun and even bucked with me when asked for canter (pure excitement :p)
for the fist time in my life i felt like a pea lol!

Lance was 17.3 when he was just slouching.:D.I met "monty and zoom"on a sponsored ride and we later met at the tea stall. Her first words were "your not actualy short at all!:eek:then the realisation dawned,"your horse is HUGE":D:D
 
Mike007 your horse is *swoon* gorgeous!!! Can you start a thread (so as to avoid hijacking this one!) and tell me all about him (including where he is kept and whether he would prefer to be stolen in a lorry or a trailer :p :D )
 
Cliqmo, please dont feel that you have put your foot in it,but sadly Lance died last autumn while out draghunting.We never found out why,and he was only seven. I am so glad you liked him, his preference would definately have been to be stolen by horsebox:D.He was a once in a lifetime horse,but now I have figured out how to post pictures I can at least share him with you all.:)

I realised when I re-read your original post on this thread (having poked OH to show him your gorgeous lad) that you had written it in past tense. I'm so sorry for your loss :o he really was gorgeous and I would love to know more about him if you won't find it too distressing :)
 
Well, everything about him was larger than life.Never mind "gentle giant" he was Cavalier Royale blood line andhad a temper to match. but only in or near his stable.Once he was away from that environment,he was the most loving,best friend anyone could have.He was quite amazing with other horses too. He just didnt feel he had to prove anything. If they squealed and stamped ,he wouldnt blink an eye. He would just stare at them till they were so embasrrsed they gave up.I did tend to fall off him an awfull lot, and occasionaly he would join me on the ground( when a pheasant tries to fly up your nose ,dont pick all four feet off the ground:D).
 
Crazyfresian,I think your horse is lovely, I,m sure he and lance would have got on well together(laughing at the 16.2 ponies:D:D:D
