My boy is a 17.1hh Han x tb. He doesn't feel that big. Only time he feels big is when he has seen something he is not sure of and 'grows' a couple of hands!! I don't look down then cus it does seem a long way down!!

Ron does the complete opposite... he shrinks, it's like he's pretending he's not there so it won't eat him!

If he sees hounds, however, he stops being 16.2 and becomes about 20.2! Until about Christmas anyway, then it all becomes a bit old hat and he settles down.

he's a big-ish lad. He's 16.2hh but quite a chunky lad, and does look a bit bigger than his height.

The biggest problem I found ,was being able to give enough rein ,while jumping.I would have to throw my hands forward, and be ready to slip the reins. This ment that I had to hold them very lightly, and quite often they would simply be snatched from my hands. Also I could not get leather reins. Apparently cows are not that big:eek::D.Second problem was that I was often catapulted off by the whip action of his long back after a jump.

I have problems with bridles, the whole bridle never fits so I have to have parts off of several different bridles! I also find mounting up at a show a problem so have purchased a 4 step step ladder!

I used to put a tressle under the ramp to turn it into a platform, climb up and then take a jump at him.Blooming fidgit he was.

I know how you feel, mine also likes to throw his head down in landing (not to buck..just does it :S), so all my rein goes, sometimes i completely lose them and have to quickly gather them up, but he has such a high head carraige that doing anything else i have too much rein and can become faffy..i never win
