here in the scottish borders its currently blowing a gale!! its like a hurricane!!!

i personally dont like to ride in wind like this, branches coming off trees, plastic bags blowing about etc...... i always think its too risky

what do u do???

I'm west coast of Scotland. Wild here too, branches etc blown off trees. Way too windy to ride! We had hailstones too

I rode in the wind today but it it wasn't as bad as you are describing.

The horses don't like it much though, always seems to Gee them up!

We go out in the wind! It's another one of the things you'd expect the Spooky Pony to freak out about, but that he seems to totally ignore.

I,m in shropshire and it is windy but not like what your having, but have definately noticed a chill in the air as i had to keep my coat on whilst mixing feeds and sorting stable out for later .

We did - to do a dressage test!! On top of a hill!!! Warm up beautifully in the indoor school but out on the arena it all went to pot. I dont think buck and proceed to spook at B was actually a movement in Prelim 12. Judges comment "well ridden in appalling weather conditions!"

well the horses deceided to brake the electric fencing at work today and all got in with each other running round like hoons...so we had to get them all in and try and fix fence...it's all back up but for some reason the electric isn't?...doh!!

my old boy was always a nightmare to ride in wind, so never bothered! (god i miss him)

I attempted to as I needed to practice a dressage test for tomorrow - but it wasn't that windy down in London. I did however give up after the 5th time of getting a face / mouth full of sand!!

I loose schooled instead, i was supposed to be having a lesson at my instructors yard but as it was my first time out in the trailer since passing my trailer test i thought it safer to wait for a day when its not quite so wild and windy!

My yard is directly on the coast (albeit in Kent) so its often really windy - doesn't bother us at all. Although in bad wind I tend to either stick to the school, or go down the beach for the sake of safety (less things to blow around/into us there!)

Glad to hear that I wasn't the only woose! :-)

I rode indoors and attempted practicing dressage although the roof shaking and whistles of wind meant that our transitions to canter weren't the smoothest.

nope never ride in wind like this.....wayyyy too scary!!!

it stems from my youngster I had as a child and she didn't like the wind, was really jumpy and spooky so I just never do

I'm just very glad I lunged today, as he is relatively new, and it was very very spooky in the school due to trees banging against the side of the school! Next time I'll definitely ride, as I had to keep dodging him as he shot from one side of the circle to the next!!

QR- I rode today, only halfway along the roads though. Trotted on the last stretch home and the wind was so strong it felt lke we were trottin on the spot or movin *very* slowly..... Which is a bit worrying

ETS- I think my 'n' key is sticky.. or on the way out.

I rode both of mine, like to ride my mare in the wind in the hope that it will wake her up a bit but no such luck! My boy has been off for 4 months after lammi and COPD and i had my heart set on getting back on him today so couldnt care less about the weather, he's great fun in the wind spooky little monkey but god it was good to be back on my gorgeous boy!!!

Yep

Was lovely just plodding round the fields even though it was a 'tad windy'

Watched the rain falling and heading our way as we turned for home, hoping to get back before we got caught in rain but got a wee bit wet

i'll ride in the school but not on the road - if the wind is too high I can't hear the traffic making it too dangerous.
