hehe she looking very proud of herself! ha

"too heavy, shouldn't be jumping" Yes well, try telling HER that! she loves it :)

although still has to work out her striding bess her, she hits the jump to soon, stops, panics, then pings over it from a stand still, funnest thing to watch hehehe :D:D

Bless her, she's looking great! :)

Agreed that cobs being too heavy to jump is a load of rubbish - my 14.3hh will ping 3ft with room to spare. He'd probably go higher but I wimp out at that point :D

Lovely photo's and obviously enjoying it as well.

Can not imagine why anyone should say cobs can not jump. We had a half Welsh Section D who did ODE's at 3'6". He was as a real family horse as well, ridden by daughter and sister at competitions, and hacking out with Grandma!! All started when he was 8 years old after he was rescued from a field and bad reputation!

I don't think anyone's ever said that... I think they may have (accurately) said that in comparison to lighter types on the whole they don't have quite the same bounce, but not that they couldn't. Your girl is lovely, look at those hinds!

My sister had a 14hh cob (with knee high white feathers that looked like leg warmers ABBA would have been jealous of, and who was as wide as he was tall...) who she did BS up to 1m/ unaff. SJ and eventing up to 1.10m with a lot of success- unbeatable jump off pony!

oooookkk i didnt mean anything by it just mocking a cliché.

A lot of people tell me she'd never jump anything, Thats all.

No offending was intentional, just wanted to show her off :)

I'm not surprised you want to show her off, I hope the people who told you she'd never jump anything have seen her in action.

I'm itching to trim her fethers though!

Have you got any more pictures of her in action?

i know she has beautiful feathers but snapped off with the mud at the front and they are not looking their best haha :o:o

i do.. but not jumping like this. We havnt done much as she needs a lot of schooling and is only young.

A show jumper popped my girl over a foot and said it was like jumping an elephant and she doubted she would go much higher......

Erm, try a 1.20 track love.... :D

Lovely coblet in lovely shape Op.

hehe fair play!

thank you :) glad everyone likes her, people poison my mind say she's no good and i think about selling her, but she young, green but so willings and a temperament to die for, and i think thats worth more than being able to just jump on.

Cobs can jump, its not pretty sometimes but many of them can pop round RC stuff with ease :)

I've got two cobs and my oldie was doing a fair bit with me when younger and my younger one just lacks confidence sometimes but bounces over a 1m easily :)

Mine was a swine for taking jumps stupidly high when he was being schooled on, he got a bit excited, less him! He liked to jump the five bar gate to follow a friend in from the field :o

Lovely horse, OP

I have a cob (and a cob cob not a welsh cob) and when I take we to HT I have many people looking at me even asking if I am actually taking her round the course. I competed in a prestigious course last year and at the end a few people asked if I'd gone clear then was shocked when I said yes! I even had someone come and try her recently then said she didn't want to rider her as she's too heavy....this horse has priced herself and competes against the finer horses and even came 2nd out of 30 at a local hunter trial.

Shy has been practising jumping a course with me today, and he did really well. Since I have changed his saddle, he is much happier - he's always loved jumping. :)

I've never had a cob as I tend to prefer tb types but when I see horses like yours I could easily be temped over to the join the cob people.

What a cheeky monkey she is for jumping out of the school!

OP I remember your other thread where you were feeling disheartened that your cob wouldn't get anywhere jumping so its good to know you are working with him, he looks very scopey in that pic!

I must admit, we have come a long way since this photo was taken last year, he does actually get over the WHOLE jump now..so maybe OP has had similar issues

I really have NEVER heard anyone say that Cobs can't jump, it would be plain silly. Of course they can jump, some very well indeed. There must be loads of jumping Cobs out there. OP your horse looks very happy learning the job, well done.:)

Unfortunately I cant post pics as on works pc :(

but my 3yo 13'2 Dales x Cob Hairy Beasty loose jumps over 1m with bags of room - and been known to "pop" five bar gates to get to the grass. Obs I dont jump him much as just a baby so considerin hes only been asked to pop over some poles a handful of times he is doing well!!

This is my cob that can't jump not jumping a working hunter class :D

As far as he concerned when it comes to jumping he's a big leggy warmblood!

btw I've never had anyone actually tell me that cobs can't jump but I do get a lot of pitying looks from the people on my yard who don't realise there's a world outside BSJ!
