Speak to your vets first bu do remember that even if you don't exceed your excess you should still technically advise your insurance company. These days when you make a claim the insurance company tends to ask for a COMPLETE vet history, including jabs.
i would go to vets and depending what they find i would claim on the insurance
as if any problem found shows up later on in life after 12months and you need to claim
it could be void on insurance as it would be on your horses medical history and these will be given to the insurance company once a claim goes in
Hmm well have booked him in at vets who have said to call the insurance company before i take him in to let them know and get a claim form. Rubbish though
I recently done this, took my horse for a lameness investigation!
I read through my insurance policy and the tems said to notify the insurance company of any possible claim before having any veterinary treatment other wise it could invalidate the insurance. So I called them, made them aware and also asked them to send me a claims form and now I just need to send it off to them once it is all filled in by myself and the vet!
So my advice would be to read your terms thoroughly!!
you are supposed to notify the insurance at the soonest opportunity. Mine had a lameness exam back in november and the insurance knew before we went. Didn't claim on that appointment as excess is high and not reached but after another work up/treatment have now claimed for that appointment and others.
