Ok:) I am looking to loan out my 11.2hh Welsh Sec A. At the same time, I am also looking to loan a 13.2-14.2hh. However, i don't want to end up with 2 ponies, or none....
The question is, do you think my little pony is wanted on loan? Some things about him:

He is a chestnut gelding, 6yrs old. he has been in senior mounted games team, done showjumping, XC schooling, been placed showing ect. I would not like him to leave Scotland, nor be used as a lead rein/Beginners pony. He is fun, and full of life! I would also like to be able to visit Occasionly. He is good in every way.(But occsionaly slightly awkward going into trailer. Will go in fine though :P)

Now, do you think I should find a pony for loan, then advertise him, and hope he is wanted quickly? Or should I find a home for him, then try and find a pony for myself? :D

Try advertising for both & see which happens first. If the 11.2 is a games/second pony type then try pc site. Good small jockeys do exist, but the majority of people after 11.2's are after lr/fr types, so I imagine it will be harder to find a loaner for him than one to loan.

I think you should ensure that your pony is happily sorted before looking for something for yourself even if it means you end up without a pony for a while however, loan ponies do come back so I would also make sure that you are in a financial position to support two ponies if you have to and lastly, I think you should do your pony a favour and sell him onto a good home.

Firstly, i am not going to sell him.I'm sorry, but never, although the first home he goes to may be great, The next one may not, and so on. Ok, thats what I thought initially, I will try and find him a loan first. His happiness is paramount. Yes, I could support 2 ponies, if nessecary.

He sounds great and the sort of pony I would love to loan for my daughter in a few years. I would definitely loan him but expect him to be coming back fairly regularly when kids outgrow him. If he is a good pony tho the local pony club would probably have someone wanting him I would think!

These sort of ponies tend to stay on loan within the same pony club, passing back and forwards between families with several kids, so I'd check which PCs are competitiver with mounted games locally and advertise there to start with
