I have only ever sold one horse before but now, due to time and work commitments, I have a 7 year old Elementary/Medium horse that I need to move on. I would obviously want him to go to a caring loving home, and he is available through no fault of his own.
I am aware, as we all possibly are, that sending a horse to be sold by a dealer ('agent') is often a prolonged and expensive experience.I know many cases where the horse is assessed by the 'agent' and advises at least 2 months of training before selling........
In my case, I know my horse well, he is exceptionally safe, really well bred, KWPN, and has recent ele points (June this year was last time out) and he is actually small at 16 hands and short coupled. He hacks alone and in company - is not a spooky or hot type and is also happy to pop a few jumps ( he has past BE points with his one previous owner, but wasnt wonderful) He is also sound, with no vices and is low maintenance in every way.
I know he would be suitable for a nervous rider, or a novice wanting to move up a level, but his main problem is that he is not forward enough.Perfect as a confidence giver but frustrating if you want more engine. I want to send him to a dressage rider to sell, as currently I dont have the facilities to show him and do not have the time to do so.
I am in the south but happy to consider anyone good, or recommended anywhere in the UK.
There is nothing negative about this horse whatsoever, but I do not want to have the unecessary expense and timescales involved if a trainer starts by telling me that more training is required.......my expected price is also very realistic.
Can anyone recommend an honest and straightforward dressage 'agent' to approach?
Grateful for responses, thanks
