And how do you find it? I'm just curious, I've been reading about it online, but would like unbiased opinions, after all, manufacturers aren't going to go 'oh, well actually, it's bloody pants...'

Well they shoudn't if they're any good at their job lol

I used to use it at a yard I worked at.

I really liked it.

I used paper bedding many moons ago and it was great when you first put the bed down, really deep and clean. However, I found it a pain to clean out as I used shredded stuff and you couldn't separate the clean from the soiled easily, it was heavy and worst of all, if the weather was at all damp it would go to nothing almost over night. It also became dusty and smelly so I went back to shavings after about 4 weeks. My mare was very tidy on it and I'm very fussy about her having a clean bed, but it just didn't work for me.

I have a heavy duty shredder so I collect papers from friends and workmates and spend a morning each week shredding.
As it is free I use it but if I had to pay I think I would use straw or shavings

It needs to be chopped not shredded for ease of use. I prefer it to shavings. It's warm, economical, & easier to muck out than shavings.

NB. Don't worry if the horse dives in to it & tries to eat it at first. They soon learn not to & it doesn't seem to do them any harm!!

In my limited experience of it, it was great when first put down...but as soon as the horse pee'd, it turned into interwoven heavy papiermache...where you couldn't seem to separate a forkful...it was the whole bed out or nothing

Thanks you lot, I've been looking into buying a cross shredder (shreds both ways) but am going to buy a few bales first, to see if we all get on with it, I'm reassured so far!!

Super use to be on it, I liked it. I only have one complaint about it. Basically when there are promotional DVD/CDs in the news paper they can get shredded as well. I've lost count of the amount of times I use to pick out bit's of CDs out her bedding!

I'm using it with rubber matting. I put down a bit of equizorb to soak up the wee and top up with paper. As I don't use too much I just sweep out all the dirty and start again everyday. It's saving me a fortune as I was using 3 bags of bedding as my horse is really dirty, now I'm using 1 bag every 10days or so and my paper is free.

I use it with rubber matting. It took me a while to work out how much to put down but I do find it easier, and less dusty than other things Ive used. I havent used equisorb. The only negative is when it blows onto the yard. If its wet it just sticks to the ground.

If you get a shredder you need to make sure you get one that can shred newspaper as normal paper doesnt absorb that well and takes longer to rot down, as far as i am aware.

Not paper but chopped corrugated cardboard
Warmer than shavings and cheaper
Easier to muck out than paper
Might move too much on rubber flooring though
