Hi all :-)

I have been looking for a while at trying wood pellets for my horses bedding. I currently have one horse and two ponies. The ponies can be quiet messy and the horse not so much but she does have her days where she is.

They are all currently on chopped straw which, yes is good but when you have three on it is quiet pricey. I'm trying to keep costs down and this looks like it could be quiet a good option if there any good, as it would make my muck heap much smaller and the bags look easy to store. So is it any good and does it save much time?

Wood pellets seem to work out considerably cheaper especially if brought in larger amounts, a lot of companies also claim that they save mucking out time as well as money.
So are they worth there money? And can they be used without rubber matting?

I luuuurve my wood pellets, I've gone from taking an hour to muck out and taking 1-2 wheelbarrows of shavings out to taking half an hour to do the bed, hay, water and feed and only taking out half a wheelbarrow. I think it can be used without mats as it compacts down and forms a solid base so as long as you level the bed every day your horses shouldn't reach the concrete floor when rolling/digging :)

Just had my horse in for month on box rest and wood pelletts are most absorbant bedding apart from megazorb that I have tried.
