Vintage eventing channel on YouTube has just put up full 1.5 hour documentary called 'an eventing millennium'.

Enjoy!

I had this on VHS!

The one i'd like to see again is an old Mary Thompson (yes - not yet married) VHS which I watched so many times i'm surprised I didn't wear the thing out. If I was to hear the music (dodgy early 90s electronic music) I'd still be feeling excited about eventing, such is the association with it for me!

Thank you - that was ideal COVID viewing for me! (Yes, I’ve been struck down with the dreaded lurgy…at least it means I get to watch Cheltenham for once.)

I became obsessed with eventing in the 90s and it was so nostalgic to see those horses and riders. I was surprised to see how chunky a lot of the earlier horses looked, I expected a lot more lean TB types but I guess the classic TBxID and TBxNative crosses were more common. Some really lovely horses in all the sections!

Somehow I always think of it as the "golden age of eventing" everything seemed much more workmanlike then, less skinnys and lots of rider frighteners. Loved Glenburnie.

Ah, I love watching old videos - will watch with a cup of tea later! A video of Pippa winning Badminon in 2003 popped up on FB the other day and it reminded me of how I used to IDOLISE the Grand Slam DVD when I was a child.

I know exactly the one you mean! On the cover she was leaning on King William with her arms crossed, and at one point there a is a split screen of her two rides round Badminton one year, King Boris at the top.

I was the same, I watched it over and over and over. I'd love to see it too!

Yes, that's the one! The bit I loved was just watching her school a young horse backwards and forwards over a little stream, then splashing through it...
