I'm sitting here.... Pretty bored, and was just thinking about all the different methods people employ when caring for their horses, they use different approaches... Some get different effects some get the same effects, people's reasoning is different but at heart they all do what they do because they believe in their heart that its the way it should be done, for that horse and with their knowledge base and experience... So I thought I'd present a case study, I basically want to know what people would feed this horse and why? No real right or wrong answers on here, just how you would do it yourself.
15.2 med weight hunter type, 50% tb, 1/4 connie, 1/4 something else, 3 1/2 yrs, been backed for six months, in at night and out at day in winter, in at day in summer... Currently unshod and sound, fullyclipped and rugged in winter, good doer with adlib hay at night, four/five days work a week, mostly hacking... Never more than 40 mins, walk trot and a bit of canter, the odd session of schooling and 1 session of lunging a week.
If this was your horse what feeding regime would he be on and why?
