Who wants to see Finn (new boy)...?

I’ve now had him for just over 2 weeks! Done the dentist, had the saddler out, got the bitting specialist coming in a week or two...

He is a really nice little horse. He won’t be 4 til June, so we’re gently pottering. We’ve been out n about to lessons (more of a little trip out to see the sights than proper hard work) and done lessons here at home. Just need to hack now, but my hacking companion’s horse has a cough ?

Having got my wintec pro jump refitted to him...I still hate it! It makes me feel v insecure. I bought a used Thorowgood T4 high wither GP in the interests of experimentation and tried it tonight and OMG what a difference! I totally it...! Tempted to replace my Isabelle Werth dressage wintec with another T4 as I loved my previous one and was heartbroken to sell it when it didn’t fit whoever I had at the time, BUT my existing saddles are 16.5” and the T4 GP is 17.5. Does it look too long? Saddle photo is after riding so in its ‘settled’ position. Dr saddle is the 16.5” Isabelle Werth.

Just to add... top 3 photos are in the Isabelle Werth, hence my making a slight pig’s ear of jumping... The rest are new T4 GP high wither ?

I had a T4 HW years ago and was really quite impressed with it! I eventually upgraded it to a K and M leather version and much preferred the T4!

If you look at your knees and feet, one is almost at jumping length and the other at schooling flat work length. I spent 20 odd years as an RDA instructor and this was such an important factor to keeping our riders level.

Stirrups are exactly the same length. One ankle is stiff due to a serious accident in the summer and once I am at rest and not concentrating any more, it does what it wants. I don’t think I can delete the photo now. I liked it because I look so happy. Should have cropped it. I will remember next time.

He looks a gorgeous boy and I hope you have lots of good times with him. I have to agree with @J&S about not only the stirrups but the whole saddle looks canted to your left. It may just be the photo or the way he is standing but I would have some concerns about it. If it is a little on the large size for him (as @ycbm thinks), then that may account for it??

It's a lovely photo, you both look very happy! You and Finn look great and you can see that your leg has just moved back so don't worry about it or be concerned about deleting it. He's gorgeous, hope you have lots of fun and keep us updated.

Eta : saddles are a right PITA. Hope you both find the right one soon ??

It looks to me like the horse is not standing square and you are also a little skewif!! Your right leg is further back than your left which gives the illusion that one stirrup is shorter than the other
