Well I didn't get to ride as pony is stuck inside with a big hole in her leg

but I was up in XC control all day with the course commentator adding up scores, liaising with start box and admiring the few jumps I could see from the window.

I thought it was a great day, I learnt a whole heap about event organisation and saw some fabulous jumping - especially that little bay advanced horse who took a stride out in the upturned boats, I've never seen a horse so bold

I'm not sure the jockey expected it either - certainly had the commentators' hearts in mouths LOL

Just wondered what the experience was like from the ground, I was longing to have a go at the Novice course which looked fun and challenging without being scarey - oh well, maybe next year

We should have been ther but the horse appeared off colour the night before so we withdrew. Vet coming to see him as puzzling what's wrong.
Next time make yourself known to us won't you, we have a lilac and dark blue box.. (not many like that around....

not me either, could have had a late slot (

) but at 8pm, having not walked the course, having to leave at 7am at latest and most importantly a forecast of rain rain rain and more rain decided not the best confidence giver for Fleur so passed on the oppourtunity and was dragged into Exeter by housemate instead.

Glad it went well (even if you couldn't compete), always an eye opener to be involved with the organisation, still think it should be compulsory for every competitor to do a 2hour stint, had to do it at home and makes you far more respectful of the organisers who do it from their own time properly...

I went!!What did the bay look like?it may have been me!!!was it dark blue/light blue colours?Had a great time-unfortunatly our dressage let us down...again!

Could have been you... it was a small and very compact bright bay pony, looked terribly bold coming over the ferrari fence (fence 7 I think) and then approached the upturned boats with its head up, eyes out on stalks, rider taking a tug to try and sit him up. He just FLEW over the first boat, took a massive stride, sat back and flew again. Never seen anything like it... it your horse put one stride in between the two upturned boats, it was definitely you - we didn't have another jump like that LOL

Weather was alright wasn't it, we were expecting it to lash down but it wasn't too bad in the end.

How did you do?

Yeah it was good to see the 'admin' side of eventing. It was kind of a 'yard' affair in someways as one of the main organisers keeps her horse at my yard and my boss was one of the commentators. Consequently all us TDRC people were drafted in. I think i was lucky, my mate was fence judging a log, she said it was the dullest thing ever - not a single refusal at her fence all day!!

um yeh that was me!He was practically in full gallop and i couldnt stop!!He is pretty bold xc though! We didnt get anywhere i dont think because of our dressage score:(

LOL - don't you just love HHO sometimes.

Anyway, your horse is awesome, that was my favorite jump of the day (apart, possibly, from the girl who fell over fence 6 in the novice course and lay on the ground holding the reins while her pony stood on the other side of the jump with a huge grin on his face

[southwestwhippet bows down in respect for your stickability and most awesome jumping pony]
