Remember someone posting pictures of the start to finish progress of their new lorry being built. I think it was coachbuilt in Aluminium.

If any one can point me in the direction of the fourm member I would be grateful. Having just had my lorry stolen I am trying to decide on whether to source a chassis and have one built or look for a "ready made" one. Obviously with the horror stories you here of fly by night builders I want a reputable one!

Many thanks to anyone who can help

We had one built early this year. It has its good points and it has its bad points. Sadly too many niggly bad points to recommend, but far from as bad as some of the horror stories I've heard too.

I'd source to chassis yourself, ours was built on a chassis the bloke had and again its not bad, but its not problem free, so far the cab's been soaking and the accelerator's jammed.

No joy with the lorry that had been stolen then? There just scum who took it.
Police don't really bother these days, in my opinion, they just have a look around and hand out a crime number, would be interesting to hear if they do do anything about it after they have left your premises.
I had a lorry built last year by Tristar. They make them in Aluminium on 7.5t.
Mine is HGV with living and they found me the chassis, I must say that there website doesn't do them credit.
Good point, lorry is solid, done everything I asked when I went through spec and people are great to deal with, and good price.
Bad point, there miles away and if really critising (sp) the paintwork could of been done a little bit better.
If you want to pm me with your email address, I could send you some pics, else you could drop by and see it if you were interested before going to view them in Wales. I'm not far from NEC.

We have a 7.5t Leyland Daf coachbuilt by Lune Valley Horseboxes in Cumbria.
Thanfully we were able to purchase one ready finished - so no stumping up money in stages etc.
He builds a very nice lorry - ours is 18 months old, and the chassis / cab were clean and tidy.
He also showed my mum various stages of construction on 2 other builds he had in progress so she could see the basic sub frame of the box area etc.
Sadly his prices have gone up since we got ours, but would still recommend him.
I'm sure he'd be flexible and let you source your own chassis, although to be honest we've not had a minutes trouble with ours.
