who wears glasses to ride?

I'm -6.5 in left eye and -5.5 in right eye at the moment, although to be honest I think my left eye has deteriorated and is closer to -7 :eek::eek:. Plus astigmatism in both. Really truly bad eyesight. I can't even read a book without my glasses on, I'm that short sighted. It is awful. I'm saving up for lazer operation, although with my astigmatism it is tricky and expensive (but, just, possible, I hope!).

I always wear glasses to ride and always have done apart from a few years when I wore contacts. (I got fed up of fiddling about with them and went back to my specs.) Have lost a few pairs falling off over the years, but luckily they have always flown even further through the air than I did or else stayed put. OP - your accident sounds scary.
I agree they're a pest when it rains but I'm a fair weather rider these days. Not even a little bit tempted to ride without them.

I wear glasses. Mine are those tungsten metal bendy ones - got them when daughter was little, they're so bendy you can tie the arms in knots, totally unbreakable. Worst non-riding accident I've had with them was at work I dashed out of the shutter door as it was shutting, and tripped over my own feet, landing very fast with my whole body weight on the right hand top of the frame of my glasses. Glass in the glasses were fine (anti scratch coating) and apart from some small scratches to the metal frame you'd never know. I had a slight cut where the frame dug into my eyebrow, but otherwise less of a mess than if I'd landed on my head directly (think I'd have had a gravel rash)

So I'm not sure if they're worse for riding than without them, certainly they seem better than AD's glasses, but can't be faffed with contacts

Hate riding in the rain with glasses - steaming up or can't see through the rain drops. Otherwise I forget I'm wearing them.

I have been thinking about using disposable contacts just for rainy days.
